Christina from A Mommy Story had a great idea to designate Fridays as Haiku Day. Since everyone seems to drop off the planet on Fridays, I thought this was a fabulous idea. I mean, why waste my Pulitzer Prize worthy posts on a Friday? Heh.
For those of you unfamiliar with Haiku, it’s a seventeen syllable poem, consisting of three lines:
5 syllables
7 syllables
5 syllables
***********
Enjoy these Haiku
If you don’t, I will find you
And fart in your face
************
It’s that time again
College Football has started
Beer drinking excuse!
************
Grocery Shopping
It’s nearly impossible
With a screaming kid
************
I love Alton Brown
His cooking skillz make me hot
Don’t tell Tate, m’kay?
************
Haiku Friday, Yeah!
Don’t you want to play along?
Oh come on! Join us!
Really! Play along! Either leave a haiku in the comments or post one (or twelve, whatever you want) and let me know and I’ll post your link here! Email me at playgroupie (at) gmail (dot) com.

this is a haiku
i have nothing to say here
i’m not creative
OOOOOOK I GOT ONE:
i enjoy your blogs
you give a real side of life
thank you for playing
I’m a playgroupie
Jen makes me laugh all the time
Love to read her blog
****************************
How’s that for Friday morning before I’ve had a cup of coffee?
Haiku make me scream
There is no rhyme, WTF?
I prefer sonnets.
Am I going to have to be the first one in the comment section not responding in poem form? It’s friggin 6 am and my daughter woke me up coughing an hour ago. I’m TIRED!
Oh, but don’t worry, she, or course, went rigth back to sleep!
In response to your 2nd one:
I always thought that
Waking up was enough of
An excuse to drink.
Alton is my fave
He whips up my souffle,
in just the right way.
Football is here now
OU I hope will kick ass
Sloths we will become
yer poems are nice
but the rhythms confuse me
i cannot count good
Fussy, tired baby
Doesn’t want to go to sleep
But his mommy does
I love your haiku
We will have a button soon
Send me your links, too
Im not even going to try , love the ones you done though
It’s a long weekend
Summer’s last hurrah, they say
Let’s get drunk and screw!
(Can you tell I’m going to see Jimmy Buffett this weekend?)
Jane, Pinks & Blues Girls
A man by the name
Alton Brown lives in my town
but he doesn’t cook
I have been writing
and counting my syllables
so go check it out

You’ll fart in my face?
You’re not a nice playgroupie
I’ll throw poop at you
It’s his third birthday
My gift from my little man
Poopie in his pants
I wondered where everyone was today. Forgot it was Friday.
Friday just doesn’t seem like such a big deal since I don’t have a job. Just another day….
Sheer brilliance!
I see most of your commenters were creative and left a haiku for you. I just can’t think of anything. I can but it would be totally random and wouldn’t make sense, much like this comment turned out anyway.
my eyes have circles
from staying up late blogging
What was I thinking?!
Awww man! I did a fart one already! Now I got nuttin. If I can’t persevert about farts then I’m hopeless.
I simply cannot top your farting in the face one (brilliant!), so I shall admit defeat and write nothing.
I’ll be in next Friday!
Bossy is sleepy
Way too sleepy to Haiku
But she loves you still.
awesome!
I may play along.
Ooooo! Is this going to be a regular Friday thing?
If so, I’m in.
If not, I totally missed the boat.
