Post #3 about moving. Sorry. And 2! days in a row.
I woke up this morning with the most gigantic zit on my chin. Also, I’m a little snippy and a whole lot extra sarcastic. Either I’m suddenly 14 again, or I’m stressed.
Any time that I’m under extra stress (like MOVING) (and yes MOVING does deserve it’s all caps status), I tend to worry about everything that could possibly be worried about.
Some of my worries are valid, and something I’m certain anyone MOVING would have the same worries.
- Obviously I’m worried about the actual process of moving. Duh.
- What if I don’t have Internet access in the temporary housing? Will I die?
- It was cold here this morning, but Indiana is practically Arctic Circle. I’m going to freeze to death, aren’t I?
- How are all the little details ever going to be completed? It’s impossible. There is no way that any of this stuff is going to get done.
- I won’t know anyone. I’ll have to make new friends all over again. And I have this GIANT ZIT on my face so nobody will even want to talk to me!
- And
- Many
- Many
- More….
I’m trying to be positive, though. I’ve done some research and have found some things that will make everything all better when we move to Indiana.
- There is a Moe’s in the town where we’ll be living. Thank God for the Homewrecker and the Billy Barou. Amen.
- There is a Target! Also, there is a Meijer. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Meijer and am hoping for a long and mutually beneficial relationship.
- There are lots of great houses for sale right now just waiting for me to move in, organize, and decorate. I can’t wait to shop for the necessary items everyone buys when they move into a new home like a new brown and blue bedspread with matching shams, bed skirt, pillows, and curtains. I bet they’ll even have what I want at Target! Also, I suspect new towels for the master bath will be needed to coordinate with the new bedding. I’d hate to leave the kitchen out, so getting some new dishes and glasses would only be fair.
- Since it’s going to be bitterly cold, I must get a new hat, gloves, scarf, and boots. My old ones simply won’t do. Also, new sweaters, socks, and lingerie will have to be purchased.
Retail therapy is cheaper than “real” therapy, right?
Oh yeah, Retail therapy is MUCH cheaper. At least, I try to convince hubby of that!!
And I had to giggle at your “artic circle” comment. When I first moved to Indiana it was from Buffalo…and all I could think was how insanely warm it was comparitively (it’s really not that much warmer…but when you grow up in snow-town…).
I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a smooth and wonderous move!! I can’t wait for another blogging mommy to be an Indy mommy!

Not only cheaper, but it has to be more effective! You can’t take your Hawt male (which he would be) therapist home with you, but you CAN bring home the new towels and sheets and roll around in them just out of the dryer!
Make sure that you get a new winter coat too and boots would be a good idea. It is a whopping 11 here today with snow up to our butts. Bet you can’t wait to experience this. BTW, Meijer is not all it is cracked up to be. I’d take a Super Target over Meijer any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

You will LOVE Mejier. They always have wonderful cut-up fruits and veggies in the produce department. And they seem to always have things I can’t find at Walmart. Yes, get some warm clothes. We had a snow day here and it’s FREEZING today.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with using materialistic crap to make you feel better. Nothing wrong at all.

I think that retail therapy provides a much quicker return on your investment. Quicker means less trips to the ‘real’ therapist, so it must certainly be cheaper. And it definitely has to be more fun.

Can I ask what part of Indiana your moving to? There is a possibility that at the end of this year Cleatus will be transferred to either Evansville, IN or really far away and boring Nebraska. Meijer? I somehow missed that you’re moving to the great lakes region. Horray for sunburn and frostbite within DAYS of one another! Seriously, there’s a low of 1* forecasted for tonight and a high of 49* forecasted for Sunday. Lovely.
Anything will be better than Bama. You will love it (after all the stress is gone). And make sure you have Internet, right away. I do wonder about your possibility of survival without it.

Meijer is pretty good. We have one here. We don’t, however, have a Target nearby.
Boo! I wish they’d put one in already. I can drive about an hour or so in any direction and get to one though. It’s just a little inconvenient.

I’ve never heard of Meijer! I guess we don’t have them here in the Northeast. Good luck moving! I moved last year, but only about a mile away from my old house, so it was pretty easy.

I’ve moved 8 times in 14 years of marriage (don’t ask, I’m still not sure why). The best money EVER SPENT was on this last one to central Texas. We hired a company to come and unpack for us.
I know, how will they know which drawer I keep my bras in? No, we just had them do the kitchen, bathrooms and kids rooms, and it was awesome. They put things in logical places, and did a great job making it kid friendly.
If you have a few hundred extra dollars (hell, as long as you’re buying a whole new house and all), you should look into it. It was so great to show up at my new house with my dishes all put away, the boxes broken down and hauled away, and fresh towels on the towel bars and toilet paper on the rolls.

Yeah, this morning when it was 27 here, it was 6 in L. One part I just don’t miss. But just think of the bright side: you’ll actually get spring and fall! And the Gawd Awful heat is only about a month or two instead of six.
I always like Meijers cause it’s a change from Walmart or Target. Be glad you didn’t move there 5 years ago, Target was non-existent there then!
Congrats on the impending move! I understand about the stresses of moving. We’re hoping to move in the next couple of months — move number 4 (I think) in five years of marriage. It’s exciting, but it’s also scary. You have to start all over in a brand new place. But it sounds like several Indy people are happily awaiting your arrival! Oh.. and GO COLTS!

OH, I truly believe that retail therapy can cure almost any ailment! I LOVE retail therapy. And, now that you can shop at pretty much any store your want without leaving your home, I am increasing my therapy sessions all the time!
Good luck with the move. I moved a lot when I was single, but then again, I owned almost nothing of value so I didn’t care much about my “valuables”. I can’t imagine moving now.
We aren’t in Indiana, but in the same general area of the US and it is 16 degrees this morning with about a foot of snow.
