I signed my life away for a day out with Thomas

Photobucket

Fantasies of this
day have invaded my thoughts
since I learned of it

Priviledge of riding
Thomas, only cost my soul
Carson MUST love it

***

I have such high hopes, hopes that I pray won’t be dashed about our big day of riding a REAL, LIVE Thomas tomorrow when we go to A Day Out With Thomas.  My imagination has conjured up images of Carson’s jubilant response when he gets to see and ride on Thomas.  For years to come, he’ll thank me for enriching his life by taking him to ride on Thomas.  At his wedding, he’ll mention that this ONE day, Day Out With Thomas, helped make him the man that he is and it’s all because his mommy loved him enough to take him.

Maybe my hopes for the day are a little bit overblown.  A little.  I guess I am sort of worried since everyone I know or have read about has reported less than stellar responses from their Thomas loving tot, whether it be a freak-out session or bored apathy.

But surely that won’t happen to Carson!  He LOVES Thomas, and really any train, truck, tractor, or automobile.  He couldn’t possibly freak out!

Except that he IS a volatile two-and-a-half-year-old who may or may not occasionally exhibit multiple personality disorder unexpectedly.

Hold me.

Haiku Friday

To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:
1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What’s a haiku, you ask? Click here.

2. Sign the Mister Linky below with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your generic blog URL). We will delete your link if it doesn’t go to a haiku. If you need help with this, contact Christina or myself. REMEMBER…ONLY sign Mr. Linky if you have a HAIKU POST. Seriously.

3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button above.

Oh, honey. I’m sayin’ prayers for ya.

Braden never acts the way we hoped he would at ANYTHING. ;-) Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating.

Nope. Nope. I’m not.

I definitely think it’s cool, awesome and fun that you are giving it a try, and even if it goes a little awry, you can always remind him that you loved him enough to do this. :)

for some reason my toddler detests all which is Thomas.
now Im feeling thankful!

MizFits last blog post..Link Love.

we skipped it this year (my fault, time got away from me and then it was too late). My boys’ excitement level wasn’t what I wanted, but they still had fun and thought it was way cool to see Thomas in person. We rode the train pulled by Thomas and that was fun, so all in all, a successful outing. Have fun!!

I will keep my fingers crossed that the event is a smashing succes!

i think he will love love love thomas. alot. you won’t be able to get him to shut up about how much he loves thomas and loved being able to ride thomas. it will be wonderful.

i, however, am leery of all things that every kid in the universe supposedly loves. i have an elmo hater. he was born that way. it wasn’t my parenting skills i assure you.

I bet he’s a good age. I think he’s young enough not to notice that it’s not “real”–it will be to him. Have a great time, and let us know!

No idea why Mr. Linky double dipped for me *hmph* but moving on to Thomas. My oldest was obsessed and when I say obsessed, it was track all over the living room, the bed covers, the posters, the toys…everywhere.

Hard to believe that Thomas has been around that long, over 17 years now. He won’t be the same without George, that’s for sure.

Happy Haiku =)

Good luck man.

I know this wouldn’t be a fun day for my daughter…she’s petrified of TV characters in person. To her, they belong on the TV only.

I hope you and Carson have an amazing train ride. And, that your day far exceeds our ho hum one. For the amount of money those dadgum tickets cost, I hope he jumps for joy. Good luck. And, don’t forget to uses your Emily Post manners when you meet the member of the gentry (Sir Hatt).

My daughter barely spoke when we took her to Thomas. I couldn’t tell if she was bored or scared or both. But, turns out she must have just been awestruck because once we got back home, she talked about it for a week straight. And now 8 months later she still says “when we gotBACK to see Thomas, we’ll….” Good luck!

We took Brandon to one of these back when he was about Carson’s age…way out on the east side of Indiana (we drove an hour and a half for it). He LOVED it!! The joy on his face was ten-fold.

He doesn’t remember it now that he’s 10…but the joy on his face THAT day was worth the excruciating heat, the LONG drive, and the cost of the day!!

You are a brave woman!

We have tickets for Playhouse Disney live and I’ve already started therapy to deal with the PTSD after it’s all done!

I am sending you good kid reaction vibes in hopes that he loves Thomas as much UP CLOSE! LIVE! AND IN PERSON! as he does little bitty at home style.

Burgh Babys last blog post..The Return of the Fish Tank of Horrors

We have a railroad close to us as well that has a Thomas day. They have a gift shop that is nothing BUT Thomas. Babyhead loved the giftshop, and the train (the regular one, we didn’t make it to Thomas yet)…we do plan on taking him to see Thomas one day, but it will be a while since Pebbles will be here next week.

Either way…GOOD LUCK. Nothing worse than getting excited for your kid about something and they either scream or are more like “meh”.

Sandys last blog post..Wordless…Thursday? :-) And Other Stuff

We did this a few months ago, and while my 2 year old was unimpressed with the actual train ride, he’s still telling people that he got to ride on Thomas. (Probably because I keep reminding him about the $70 we spent on tickets, but whatever.) Good luck!

I hope he loves every moment of it! For your sake!!!

good luck. no sarcasm there at all. nope no nuh-uh.

Glad I have a girl, although I’m sure ridiculous, overpriced princess crap is in our future. Husband has refused to ever take her to the Ice Capades or any show that is on ice…yeah, right. All she needs to say is “Daddy…I wuv you” and he gives in to whatever she wants.
Have fun! Sending good behavior karma your way.~~~~

OK, not that I am completely igororing your post, but I am because my children are out of the Thomas phase, but WHEN ARE WE GONNA HEAR ABOUT YOUR CAMERA SCORE?!?!?!?!

KEEP BELIEVING

Angie@ Keep Believings last blog post..Open House

We took our 3 children to see Thomas a few weeks ago, and it went okay. My almost 3 year old LOVES Thomas the Train, but he fa-reaked out when he saw that we were taking him on. Then we got dirty looks and eye rolls from a CHILDLESS foursome of young adults sitting in front of us. My thought drifted to the homicidal, but Ryan calmed down once the train began to roll.
It was okay. We spent Way Too Much Money though. T-shirts, tickets, gas to get there. Probably close to $300. Won’t be doing it again, however.
Have fun!

We had a blast, but I suggest that you do the ride first and all the other stuff after. Our twins fell asleep on the actual train ride because we ate, played, etc. first. It made a great picture of our son asleep on the train! Have fun!

Hope you have fun!!! We took our 2yo back in May (to the same one as Amalah wrote about in Baltimore, MD. We had a great time!!!

Make sure you get your picture in front of the train before boarding, there will be a long line after the ride, as everyone funnels off the train…not sure if anyone else mentioned that?

Christines last blog post..Rocking Sangria

I am not sure I can share your enthusiasm… but I can appreciate your Haiku!

It is possible for them to have a great time at Day Out With Thomas. I have the most amazing pictures of my boy hugging “Sir Topham Hat.” Of course he cried when he had to let go…
We’re hoping to go again soon now that he’s old enough to remember it!

While my son (now 12, then 4 1/2) loved loved loved every minute of Day out w/Thomas (we had to make a 3 hour drive!!), he still has his picture on a big real train, with his 2 year old sister trying to hone in, posted in his room. We had lots of fun, and I hope you do too. Sometimes, we need to just have fun and not worry about the cost. Have a great day with Thomas - and your sweet boy.

stella actually teared up at the sight of dorothy the dinosaur at her first wiggles concert.

or maybe it was tears of exhaustion, we’ll never know.

Hope the experience lives up to expectations for BOTH of you ;–)
My 2nd is late again … but it’s up finally at Sacred Ruminations, and that has to be good enough.
Hugs and blessings,

We did this when Shark Boy was 3. He liked the train ride a lot and the inflatable slide thingy they had set up.

We spent a small fortune on the tickets.

And then he spied the gift shop. It was HUGE. Filled to the brim with every expensive Thomas toy ever made.

Arrgh.

We took Dylan to this last year. It was 134 degrees, I was pregnant and there were 45,000 people there. For us grown-ups? It sucked. For him…it was the TIME OF HIS LIFE.

When that full sized Thomas pulled up he was so excited he almost started crying. It was THE cutest thing I have ever seen. To this day.

I hope Carson loved it as much as Dylan did!

Wow, I write lots of haiku (site IS called Haiku Venue after all)… but I’ve never paid any attention to what day I write on. The most recent FRIDAY haiku was back in february! So that’s the one I posted to your linky thingy. Any way, now that I know you’re here… I’ll try to write more on Fridays.

Years ago, one of my now 10 YO twins was Thomas crazy. I bought tickets to go 2 states away, because Thomas wasn’t coming to Alabama. Drove all the way there, hotels, lots of $$…so he could get on the train and promptly fall asleep. LOL (But, hearing him yell when he first saw Thomas was worth it.)

6 mos later…Thomas came 20 miles from my house. Oh well.

WoooHooo, it’s Haiku Friday again!!!!
