Fearing the worst, I was relieved that at no time did the ER doctor ever utter the words, “Your daughter is suffering from Scarlet Fever/The Black Plague/an incurable skin condition that will leave her scarred for life.” It certainly didn’t hurt that the doctor who diagnosed and treated Ella with an allergic reaction to amoxicillin was not only kind and helpful, he was also HOT.
Overall, I think Monday was a very good day.

Kind, helpful, hot. Sounds good to me.
Good for you for being able to say Monday was a very good day even considering the evidence in the photo.
Hope your sweet girl is on the mend!

It’s amazing how she can be so cute even when red and splotchy! I’m glad they figured out what the problem was…nothing is worse than worries about your kiddos’ health!
Bonus about Dr. McHottie! Woohoo!

Oh poor baby!!! You must have freaked out. I am kinda starting to wonder when parenthood is going to stop with all the ‘curveballs’, my guess thusfar is *never*. We had a ‘could be an appendix issue’ one night this past weekend, which sent the husband racing our little one to the ER, only to find out (after the little one was given pediatric buscopan) that it was just gas, and he brought him home, farting his poor little butt off. (the litle one, not the husband ha ha haho hoho hee hee hee).

What is going on with drug allergies right now?? My friend’s son just broke out in a horrific rash and was accompanied by a 104 fever…. with the diagnosis of a Sulfa Allergy.
Glad she’s feeling better… we had the same issue with our oldest when we found out she was allergic to penicillin too! Though our rash was the worst in her nether regions. Ouch!

The commenter above me mentioned sulfa. That’s the same reaction I had to sulfas. The back of my neck swelled up so bad with hives I couldn’t bend my head.
I feel bad for her and at least you know you can avoid it.
Poor little thing. Still, so cute!

Oh, poor thing! So glad you found out and she’s gonna be fine.
When I found out I was allergic to penicillin, I ended up in the ER with a hot doctor, only my rash was also on my ass, and he and the other nurses/students all decided it was a teachable moment.

I think all ER docs need to pass a hotness test. It’s only fair to supply eye candy for stressed/worried/scared Moms. I mean, seriously, they are all hot on the TV show, ER, so that’s what we expect, right?
Glad she’s doing OK. I’m allergic to penicillin – big, yucky rashy allergic.

My son did the exact same thing only he had breathing issues to go with it. Some scary stuff, let me tell you, I checked on him about 30 times the rest of the night (which wasn’t very long).

Did you know Scarlet Fever is simply strep throat with a rash? I didn’t until my Ella (great pseudonym! My daughter really is an Ella) came down with it last year. Go figure.
Thanks for looking at my layout, btw. I’ve made some, I think, good changes.

Poor Ella! Hunter went through the same type of reaction last year. It was horrible…he had more hives on his skin than regular skin. His doctors have no clue what caused it. Poor kid was itchy for 3 days.
