You are really a rule follower and I adore you to that. There's nothing to worry about if you really know to yourself that you didn't stole anything.

I'm 36 and I still get nervous in liquor stores like I'm trying to get away with something. I always think they'll card me. It's so weird. I'm waiting for the day when I'll just get over it. I mean I don't look 18 so why do I feel this way??

I always keep walking unless there is a security guard right there or I think there might be a security tag that I won't be able to remove myself. I figure if they're going to accuse me of stealing, they should at least be willing to chase me down.

For some reason, my Blackberry ALWAYS sets off those alarms. So now, I just walk through. But? The last time I did that? Turns out the cashier had forgotten to take the ink tag off my new Gap hoodie. So when I went to put it on? Yup. Ink tag still attached. So I had to go back. Annoying.

See, you're lucky...it seems there's ALWAYS someone nearby when that happens to me. Store employees. A crowd. And if I'm with my kids when it happens, my first thought is that they've picked up something that I forgot to have them put on the counter so we could pay for it. Guilt times 3!

I usually look around for a second with an innocent, confused look on my face, then shrug and walk out.

I bought my daughter a dress the other week and when we got home we found the dye tag was still on it - you know the one where if you steal the dress and then try to remove the tag, dye will go all over it, ruining the garment? Anyway, no worries, I had the receipt, so we went back and the lady at the customer service counter took the tag out without any worry - but she didn't even ask for the receipt! Amazing!

I set off alarms too. Sometimes if you ask, the store clerk will run your purse over the magnetic thing-a-ma-bob and it makes it stop happening for a while. Then it all starts over again. I have learned to look like I too wonder who set off the darn alarms and continue walking....

He he. I would call myself a rebellious rule follower. I like to bend the rules to the extent that I can especially when I think the rule is dumb...but I will never take it too far because I was much to much of the 4.0 student-type to really go for it and be a true rebel.

I hate those store alarms. I used to get nervous too. Come to think of it, I buy most things online or from non-door-alarm stores so I haven't had that happen in awhile.

I'd keep on walking, too! At the store where I work, EVERYTHING sets those alarms off, from key rings to cell phones to who knows what (and stolen merchandise, hehe). The cashiers that are close to the doors usually *just* saw a customer pay for their purchases, so they usually just get waved on.
