First day of Kindergarten, August 15, 2011

For reference, here is a picture of my Kindergartener I took JUST YESTERDAY.  August 16, 2006

How did this happen and what did they do with my baby?

(Yes I cried when I dropped him off.  No he didn’t see me cry.  Ella cried harder than me.)

I know how you feel – except my eldest will be starting Junior High in a few weeks. It feels weird to say it: Juuunior Hiiigh. Ugh.

That picture where he’s sitting at the cafeteria table is just great.

Our middle school here starts in 5th grade. I’m trying not to think about how SOON that is!

Where has the time gone? My baby goes in 2 days (and for the record, my baby picked out the Star Wars backpack!)

LOVE the backpack so far, it seems well made and sturdy. Hope it holds up all year, all of his other cheap backpacks rip or the zipper breaks within a few months.

love the pottery barn back pack ! I got my guys some vintage Star Wars and Bat Man action figures from waaaaaay back in the 70s so cool ! I was thinking about getting them the Star Wars back pack like the bat man pack. Do you have any goodbyns? Do you pack lunch or get it at school. My kids do not start for another 3 weeks yet.

I think it’s going to be a good backpack, I hope so anyway!

We have a pottery barn lunch box also, it’s two years old and still looks brand new. I was going to buy the insert for the lunch box that they sell but it was on backorder the last time I checked. For now I’m just using the reusuable sandwich container we have and some other small tupperware pieces.

I’m sorry. I am sitting in a hotel room while my son is taking a nap. He is 19… closer to 20 really. We went up to his new college and got his college id. He will be 4 hours away from home. He has never been away from us for loger then two weeks and that was when he was younger and before sports happened. I’ve been crying off and on since Sat. night. He and I drove up to Oklahoma last night. My husband will drive up here tonight.

All of that to say. I understand how you feel. Love him and Ella up while you can. It goes by in a flash.

I’ve cried for the past week. Well, really for the past 5 1/2 years, every time I thought about Kindergarten. I’m going to need to invest in Kleenex when he goes off to college!

      Hang in there.

Wow!! I can’t believe he is so big! I’m not gonna lie… I’m sitting here crying as I read this! It really does seem like yesterday that I went to your baby shower and made him a burb cloth!
Lots of Love from your Cousin Katie!!

It happens so fast! My baby starts Kindergarten in 2 weeks. (My oldest started last fall) and I’ll be a mess knowing I’ll have no one to pick up from preschool anymore and no more afternoon ice cream shop stops. Hope your son has a good day today.

I guess he had a good day. He tells me he can’t remember anything that he did. Such a talkative fella. Sigh.

He seemed to have a good day, but he says he can’t remember what he did today. He was smiling when I picked him up and his sister was very happy to see him. ;)

What a great photo documentary you now have! I cried with my first but my second was so excited and ready I managed to hold back the tears. I have this amazing photo of her face through the school bus window and she’s just beaming. She’s going into 2nd grade now but it still seems like yesterday. I hope he has a great school year!

I don’t think I’ll cry next year! I can’t explain it, but I feel less sentimental about her going next year than I do about Carson starting this year.

My twin boys start K in 15 days and neither are “ready”, nor am I. Which reminds me… I need to start getting them to bed earlier than they are now. . .

My kids are going to jr high and high school (an insanely large high school with 3300 students–the town i grew up in didn’t have that many people!) for the 1st time this year. Every year seems to go faster than the last. One second I’m crying and the next I’m just so excited to see how they handle the newest challenge in their lives.

Kindergarten is such a fun year—I hope you’ll be able to volunteer in the class or go on a field trip because a room full of 5 year olds? Completely hilarious/fascinating. :-)

I always loved working in the Kindergarten classes back when I had a job. Those kids are the best age!

My oldest starts kindergarten tomorrow!! AH!!

I’ve held up pretty well when people ask me about her starting the big K…until I read your post and looked at your pics. Now I’m a bucket o’ tears thinking about what our day will be like tomorrow.

Off to make sure she has everything ready!

I’ve cried each time I take the boys to kindergarten for the first time. Though I might be crying this year when I take my baby to preschool. They shouldn’t be allowed to grow this fast.

This will be me next Tuesday and I am over the moon excited, and filled with horrible dread and sadness. It’s a fun mix.

The picture of him having to be woken up breaks my heart. So sweet.

My son was so lonely when my daughter started kinder. They used to do everything together (not so much now that they are 16 and 17!). And she started school a year before he started kinder. He would have breakfast after we dropped her off and want to go pick her up. So I would say after lunch. He would want to go pick her up. So I would have to say after Sesame Street. That he could understand.

It doesn’t seem like 12 years, more like 12 months!

I can’t imagine how I will feel when my little man goes off to kindergarten. I can’t stand being without him for 2 hours- I already miss him- so sending him off on his own into the great big world scares the living poop out of me.
