Mama’s Got a New Tag

Actually, I’ve been double-teamed with these memes.

First, I was tagged by Lindyloo at the Chronicles of Squidgyboo for the “8 interesting facts about me meme.” Who doesn’t like talking about themselves…I think I demonstrated this is this post and this post.

Here are 8 more interesting little tidbits about me!

1. Just when I think that you can all extinguish your candles in the vigil you all have been holding for my breasts, the fissures re-open and all hell breaks loose…again.

2. I have a thing for David Beckham and Josh Duhamel. Yumm-o.

3. I can’t keep up with responding to all my new commenters. So, I’ll do a mass “hello, new readers! Thanks for visiting!” I also am drowning in my Google Reader. Hey, I read what I can.

4. If I drink Dr. Pepper, I belch. Like a man. I could win contests with these belches.

5. If I were to go back to college, I think I’d like to be a food scientist.

6. I hope to be moving to wordpress very soon. Please follow me there.

7. My IL’s helped immensely during their 3 week stay. They stained the deck, built a gate for the deck, fixed two of the chairs on the deck, planted a lovely pot with pretty flowers, painted our office, hung shelves in our office, fixed the laundry room door, fixed the shit-ticket dispenser in my bathroom, and fixed the railing going upstairs to the bonus room. They accomplished more in 3 weeks than we have in two years.

8. We’re taking Peanut to the park today. I am thrilled to be leaving the house! Yippee!!!

*****

In the most sneakiest of tags, I was hit up for this one by Jenny at Absolutely Bananas. Here are 10 things that make me happy….

1. Reshel* (how do you all feel about me calling her Shel?)

2. Peanut*

*Most of the time they make me happy, however when my nips are aching and Peanut is screaming, they do NOT make me happy.

3. Guinness, Bogle Petite Sirah, and Pina Coladas.

4. Sushi

5. Feta Cheese, well actually cheese in general tends to put a smile on my face. Too much cheese tends to leave me with, uh, bathroom issues. I think I’ve said too much already.

6. Four hours in a row of sleep.

7. Beautiful, sunny, 70 degree, wind-free days.

8. Comments!!!! I seriously read the comments from this post over and over. Thank you all again!

9. My new blog template **coming soon** will definitely make me happy!!!

10. Leaving the house. Not such a simple task anymore!

Okay, tag time! I’ll tag 5 people, I have no idea what the rules for these meme’s were, and I’m a RULE BREAKER!

If you’re tagged, you can choose the meme to do from the above two, or hell, do both if it floats your boat!

Ossy at Pixie Dust & Reality
Mommy Daisy
Sandy at It’s an Insane World
Michele at I Got Two, Babe
Southern Fried Mom at Grits with Cheese

Chinese Freeze Tag

I was tagged by Cherann at Confessions of a Former Bookworm and Lene at Families are Like Fudge for this 10 things about me meme. Sorry it took so long for me to get this posted.

To spice things up a bit, I’m going to share 10 fascinating and Asian-related things about myself.

1. I love Chinese food. Especially Mu Shu Pork.
2. I have no desire to travel to China. Actually, I really don’t have a huge desire to travel to any Asian destinations.
3. One of my favorite authors is Amy Tan. Her books are fascinating looks into the Chinese culture. They are very interesting.
4. On my honeymoon to San Francisco, we visited Chinatown. We didn’t eat there, though, because we’d already had lunch in the Financial District.
5. I’ve known one person to adopt a little girl from China. She named her daughter Lucy. She’s a gorgeous and very lucky little girl.
6. I don’t care for Chinese Five Spice Powder. I think it’s because of the cloves. Cloves are yucky.
7. Although I enjoy Chinese food, I’d rather not eat at Chinese buffets. Buffets are breeding grounds for typhoid fever, malaria, and polio.
8. One of my favorite pairs of shoes, that I currently cannot wear because I’m pregnant, is the brand “Chinese Laundry.”
9. I never had a Chinese student when working as an SLP.
10. The last time I checked, my blog is not banned in China. Is your blog banned?

Now I get to tag…10 people…no tag backs…

Jennie at An Experimental Mommy
Smiling Mom at Beneath the Mask…Mom of Two
Aldara at Catholic Mommyhood
Dawn at Coming to a Nursery Near You
Kim at Ed’s Girl 4 Life
Kim at Everyone Else is Doing It
Cindy at High on Life
EE at Life Unscripted
Kristi at Living Life in Tx
Nell at meanwhile…

Go forth and multiply! Tell us 10 interesting facts about yourself!!! They certainly don’t have to be Asian related.

And tell me if your blog is banned in China.

Tagged…Spread the Love

I was tagged by Colleen at A Madison Mom for this meme. She probably thought I forgot all about about it! It sounds like the idea of this game of tag is to increase the traffic to your site a bit. Sounds like a good idea to me.

So here are the rules…

***Start Copying Here***
*NEW ADDITIONAL RULE: You must spider the previous tagger and DEEP LINK a URL so everyone gets a better link! *

1) Write a short introduction paragraph about how you found the list and include a link to the blog that referred you to the list.

2) COPY the ENTIRE List below and add it to your blog. To avoid duplicate content and increase the amount of keywords your site can accessible for, go ahead and change the titles of the blog. Just don’t change the links of the blog.

3) Take “My Adds” and move them into the “My Originals” list.

4) Add 3 Brand New Bloggers that you know of

My Adds:

Absolutely Bananas
Auburn Gal Always
While You Were Sleeping

I have so many blogs I enjoy reading. I have picked three that I hope will join in!

All About Meme, meme, me

When are any of my posts not about me? Not very often, I know. It’s just that it’s so fun to talk about myself. And you keep coming back to hear more!!

Anyhoo, I’ve been tagged for two memes. First up, I was tagged by Erika at Plain Jane Mom (who is AWESOME, by the way) to do the 7 songs Meme.

Now before I begin, these are not necessarily the most current songs. I really only listen to music in the car and when I’m in the car, Peanut is with me. He’s quite adamant about listening to either Elmo or Blue’s Clues, so I rarely am in control of the radio.

I’d also like to thank Swistle for this post that taught me how to use these nifty music buttons.

So here are my songs….I did not include any explanations about the songs. I just like them.

Paolo Nutini, New Shoes

Gomez, How We Operate

Steve Burns, Troposphere

Ray LaMontagne, Trouble

Jack Johnson and Ben Harper, Gone

John Mayer, Gravity

John Hiatt, Have a Little Faith

***********************************************************************************

Now onto the second Meme, for which I was tagged by my IRL friend Sara at Suburban Oblivion. This is the interview Meme. I feel as if I talked to Barbara Walters except that I didn’t cry and I didn’t feel like punching her.

1. Why did you decide to start a blog?

Because I’m so talented that it would be a waste not to share my utter brilliance. Just kidding.

I decided to start a blog because I enjoyed blogging on Myspace, but wanted to branch out. Shocking that I actually gained readers! I was inspired by Kristen at Motherhood Uncensored, Lena at Cheeky Lotus, Linda at All & Sundry…. And now I continue because it’s so much fun to write, discover new blogs, and make all sorts of new friends all over the world.

2. How do you balance the demands of motherhood with blogging?

I try to blog first thing in the morning while the TV plays babysitter. Then I try to blog during naptime. I find it harder to balance blogging with housework, chores, and *cough* wifely duties.

3. What is your top pet peeve?

Just one? Yikes. Okay, here’s one…Being unnecessarily inconvenienced. For example, when the bank can’t figure something out and I have to call them over and over to get the situation resolved. Or when the checker doesn’t give you all your bags at the grocery store and you have to go back to get your missing items. Or buying something that doesn’t work…

4. What is one thing about yourself that you are trying to change?

Not holding grudges and being a better friend. Also, I may want to explore learning to assert myself and learn how to let go of my control issues!

5. How do you unwind when the stress of daily life gets to you?

Liquor and raunchy sex. Not really.

I BLOG. It’s really the only way. Sometimes I don’t publish what I’ve written, but it’s very therapeutic to have written my gripe/stress/irritation.

Since I feel like I’ve done a lot of tagging lately, PLEASE feel free to consider yourself tagged! Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll link you to this post!

Smiling Mom asked to be tagged…Here are her answers to the Interview Meme.

It’s a Tag Yourself Meme

I asked Janet “aka” Wonder Mom at Dancing Through to “tag” me for this 5 question meme. She came up with some great interview questions for me to answer. The game continues when you!!! the reader ask to be interviewed.

Here are my questions and answers.

1. What is the worst playdate you have ever been on? What happened?

Technically, I haven’t ever been to a really terrible playdate. My playgroupie pals are generally a fun, easy going gang, so luckily nothing horrible has happened. However, we had a very bad library storytime experience once (I’m counting this as a playdate). Peanut was in a funk, and I mean, he was the DEVIL INCARNATE. He cried and hit and generally acted awful. To make things even worse, another Mother said her daughter would never act like that in public. She made me feel so embarrassed, but I felt more anger and resentment towards her.

2. What is the worst thing you could possibly do in a playgroup?

I have to laugh at this question…in my playgroup we’ve had our fair share of odd ducks and generally obnoxious people. There was one Mother who constantly touted her brilliance and general superiority to every other Mother in the group. When someone had made a parenting “oops”, she’d be the first to point out what she would have done to avoid such a ridiculous mistake. Her condescending attitude eventually earned her a ticket out of our playgroup. So, the worst thing you could do in a playgroup is not support the other Mothers and act like your parenting skills are far superior to everyone else’s.

3. Have you made many new mommy friends or do you still have the same friends from before mommyhood?

Most of my local friends are Mothers. I’ve met the vast majority through my playgroup and a few through La Leche League and the library storytimes. When we first moved to Alabama, I was pregnant and I had no friends. Joining a playgroup was the best thing I ever did for myself.

4. What’s the worst date you have ever had?

I was asked to come along on a double date back in high school. I really can’t say that it was a set-up because I don’t think my date was interested in actually going on the date. I think we were just asked to come along as support. When they came to pick us up, it was obvious that my date was NOT PLEASED. He seemed utterly disgusted by me. The entire evening (I don’t even recall exactly what we did), he said maybe 10 words to me. At the end of the night, I’ve never seen someone so relieved to be out of my presence. I was mortified.

5. Have you ever been on a blind date?

I suppose that the double date I just told ya’ll about could count as a blind date. In college, I was set up on a blind date for one of my sorority dances. He was from a different university and traveled to my university for the dance. Remember the reaction of my date above? Well, sadly and I’m uneasy to admit, that was my reaction to this date. He was a giant dork. No personality. Greasy hair. And he smelled…funny. Not like body odor or poop, but funny. The dance was not fun, he didn’t want to dance or drink. He stayed with me in my apartment ON THE COUCH and left the next morning, never to be seen or heard from again. Whew!

Thanks so much, Janet, for these fun questions!

Hey, do you want to play, too?? Just let me know in the comments or you can email me at playgroupie at yahoo dot com. I’ll come up with 5 personalized questions for you. Also, let me know if there are any subjects off limits because I’m dying to know about your hot sex life.

Real Moms

Real Moms don’t always get a chance to shower, even when they really need to. (Maybe a “whore’s bath” is in order.)

Real Moms color their hair darker so that they don’t have to maintain it as often. There is no time (or money) for touch-ups every six weeks. Can you say ENGORGEMENT when you’ve been away from baby for more than 2-3 hours?

Real Moms wear stripper-esque maternity shirts when they haven’t done laundry.

[picture removed because of all of you freaks out there. Perverts. You should be ashamed.]

Real Moms. Making smelling a bit off and looking skanky the new must-have look for Spring.

I was tagged by Kristen at The Mom Trap…Here’s how it works: Put up a post “Real Moms [insert what you do here]“, followed by an explanation, a picture, and a “Real Moms. Making ….”. Then tag five people.

I tag Queen of Shake-Shake, Sara at Suburban Oblivion, Swistle, In the Trenches of Mommyhood, and Mommies Are People, Too.
