I am thankful

I am thankful…that a year has passed and Peanut isn’t crying during all his waking hours.

I am thankful…that I am not traveling this holiday.

I am thankful…that I won a maternity t-shirt on coolmompicks.com this morning. Yeah me!

I am thankful…that I discovered several mom blogs and realized that I’m not the only one who doesn’t relish every moment of motherhood.

I am thankful…that Peanut weaned easily and that I get a break in breastfeeding before # 2 arrives.

I am thankful…that the Cardinals won the World Series. I love those guys!

I am thankful…that I don’t live in Siberia.

I am thankful…that I have seen the ocean, Napa Valley, the Great Smokey Mountains, Cardinals games at Busch Stadium(s), Vols games at Neyland Stadium.

I am thankful…for great movies, TV shows, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and books for giving me something to do in all my, uh, free time.

I am thankful…that Tate went into work at little late today !

I am thankful…for Sweet Potato Casserole.

I am thankful…for running water, furnaces, air conditioners, roofs, cars, toilets, ovens, and microwaves.

I am thankful…for all my friends. I’d be a total loser without ya’ll! Thanks for being fun to hang with!

Bowing out gracefully

I am here to announce that I am no longer in the running for Mother of the Year. I feel that I must excuse myself from the competition. I am unable to make french toast. There is no way I can possibly compete now that I have failed one of the most basic of mom duties.

I can make a mean breakfast burrito, however after consulting the rules and bylaws for the MOTY award, I found that this skill isn’t even mentioned as worthy for receipt of an award. Not even honorable mention. French toast is listed as the #2 things mommy MUST BE ABLE TO MAKE for breakfast. I just can’t cut it.

I even thought I might get bonus points for my french toast attempt this morning. I used whole grain bread, dammit. And I wasn’t going to give Peanut any syrup, so really it wasn’t an unhealthy breakfast. Just inedible. He threw most of it on the ground to the dogs. He usually only throws his food when he’s full, but he threw this after just a few bites.

I’ll keep practicing and maybe enter again next year.
