Finding Peace at the Beach

Yesterday, I let go.

It’s rare that I engage in risky behavior, especially the type of behavior that could lead to major regret on my part. Most outings with my children as of late fall into the category of risky, since they have left me stressed, sweating, and vowing to never take them in public again. EVER.

But Sunday morning was beautiful and sunny. And the thought of spending the day inside doing the same things I do everyday…ugh.

So we took a huge risk and loaded two very small children in the car and headed out on our adventure, to the beach. (Again, we have two very small children… a toddler dangling ever too close to the brink of the terrible twos and a recently emergent colic survivor).

Very risky indeed. But so very worth it.

There is something to be said for sea air, sand, and salt water. It works wonders on your psyche. And on your children.

Good for you! You’re braver than I. We didn’t discover the beach until last summer, when my kids were 3 and 18 months. But what we found there was peace as well.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Sacha loves the beach. And being naked. When it is convenient, having naked beach parties does us all a world of good!

That’s awesome! The risks we take with a payoff like this are why we keep taking risks. I’m so glad you guys had a great day. We’re going to the beach the weekend after Labor Day and I can’t wait. It will be William’s first trip!

O, I’m sooooo jealous that you actually live close enough to a beach to drive there and back comfortably in one day. Although, when it’s all said and done I do need to have a good looking cabana boy and a pina colada in my hand to make it worthwhile…

Great pictures! I don’t know why I didn’t realize just how close in age your two kids are…you are one brave woman taking them to the beach. We braved the beach on Sunday too, sometimes you just have to take them out in public.

By the way, for some strange reason your blog crashes my internet explorer when I am using my work laptop…apparently I am not supposed to read you when I should be working.
