I have a confession to make.
I’ve been slacking on my Couch to 5K running program.
Here are the reasons excuses why:
1. It’s hotter than hell right now.
2. The heat makes me feel like I’m dying, when I’m only just jogging.
3. I can only run when Tate is home and it’s after dinnertime and bath time and bed time. By the time all that is done, it’s 8 o’clock. And it’s almost dark. It’s scary to run in the dark in my neighborhood. There are loose dogs and this…
4. Since it’s dark, I can’t see my watch and I end up trying to count the time I’m running. It goes something like this…
…15-one thousand, 16-one thousand, 17 one-thousand…(I’ll lose my spot in counting because I’m close to death)…20 one-thousand, 42 one-thousand, 43 one-thousand, 60 one-thousand!
I need to figure out a better system here.
5. I’d rather eat Ben and Jerry’s Banana Split ice cream.
(Have you tried this ice cream? It may very well be worth a large ass, ’cause seriously, it’s spectacular.)
Here’s one last confession. When I do run, I actually enjoy it. Shh, don’t tell anyone.

Roll on Autumn!
It’s hot here, too and I can’t stand to be outside much less exercise outside.
The advice here is to go to the mall with your stroller and step it out there. Yeah, not going to work for me – since I’ll be broke by the time we leave – window shopping is not my forte!

I heard that enjoying running part, but your secret is safe with me. In the summer especially early early morning seems to be the ideal time for me, not too hot yet and disallows you from making a million excuses why you shouldn’t run. Any way you can run before your DH leaves for work? Of course you have a tiny baby right? You should just sleep!

Do you have BlueBell Ice Cream in your neck of the woods? They have a banana split as well..way better than excersise.

You’re no slug. I’m not even going to start running until Arlo is off the boob. Too much coordination of routines (and yes, stealing of precious ice-cream eating moments). I must try this new flavor – my current favorite is the half baked and twisted. Brownies and cookie dough, mmmmm….

Awesome post. I am ALSO doing the couch to 5K running program – How cool
I just finished Week 4 and it was a bit rough – I also have a hard time jogging in the heat.
How I do the running to time it is by using my ipod… having a playlist with songs that are just about 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes (or whatever as the program goes up) then I go through each song, dont have to think about timing myself and stop when the songs are over. just a thought

Oh my- I wouldn’t run with bears on the loose! That’s the perfect excuse!
PS- You could always get a double jogging stroller- that would make for some SERIOUS exercise!

You said, “It’s hotter than hell outside right now” and I read, “I’m hotter than hell right now” because who needs to run when you’re ALREADY HAWT? Hrm?
P.S. Why don’t you just MOVE BY ME. DAMNIT. I think you’re supposed to be my neighbor. Period.

bears?
i think i’d only be running to get away from the bears and TO the ice cream, but then, i’m nobody’s version of a paragon of fitness.
fall is a better time for jogging, methinks. and you know, if you moved up here, you could start fall next week!
the delights. soon i’ll be able to use the excuse that it’s too cold to run…

Ho about a treadmill? It is hot as all get out here too and I dread having to leave my AC even though it is barely keeping up with the heat.

Well, I’ve jumped off the C25K program too. I won’t even start on my excuses.
Banana split ice cream sounds so lovely. We saw some in the store a few weeks ago and it sounded good. Now I’ll just have to go and get some for myself.

The heat wave has killed, like, 20 people in your area. I’d say you’re justified in not running.
And bears! Yeah, I wouldn’t be running if there were bears in them there woods either.
Found your blog via the blogger chicks blogroll.

I tried to jog for the first time at the gym last week.
I did it for literally…1 minute…then I had to keel over and faint.
it sucks.

Oh my Lord. Seriously? Bears. A stray squirrel loose in my backyard is a huge deal. Bears? Ya, that would be excuse #1-10 for not going running. ever.

Okay, I think you should just be proud of yourself for even having a Couch to 5K running program.
Plus, the whole bear thing. You NEED ice cream.
