I’ve Never Seen “The Sound of Music.” Really.

Welcome!  So glad you found your way here!  Have a seat, make yourself comfy.

Hey you!  Don’t put your drink down in my sidebars!  You’ll leave a ring.

********

I read this post by kellyo75 last week and she admitted to having never seen Say Anything.

I’ll pause for a moment while you regain your composure. Breathe deeply. Deeeeeply. In. And out.  In.  And out.  Atta girl. I’m not certain how that’s possible either to not have seen Say Anything.

Feeling better now? Good.

While I can’t imagine life not knowing the quirkiness that is Lloyd Dobler, I can appreciate that not all people have seen the movies that I find to be quite enjoyable. With that said, I hope that I won’t cause more hyperventilation when I confess that I’ve never seen The Sound of Music. Really. In fact, I have very little desire to see it. I’m just not that into musicals.

“The hills are alive with the sound of music….” blah, blah, blah.

Also, I’ve never seen Braveheart. You know, the bloody painted faces and Mel Gibson flick. I assume that this won’t cause you to lose sleep, but I just thought I’d mention it since my husband finds it unbelievable that this is a movie I’ve never seen.

Thinking about these movies I haven’t seen made me start reflecting  on overrated movies.  *stares inquisitively while tapping chin with index finger* Here is my pick for the most overrated movie ever…and the award goes to….

There’s Something About Mary.

*uses index finger to fake gagging*

“There’s something about paying hard earned money to sit and watch that turd of a movie” is more like it.

*more gagging*

I remember sitting in the theatre, after having heard that it was THE FUNNIEST MOVIE EVER!, and thinking to myself that I wanted to leave or gouge my eyes out. But since I’d paid, I stayed (and left my eyes alone), hoping against hope that the movie would improve. It didn’t.

I feel the same way about those Meet the Parents movie.

*barforama*

I guess I’m just not that into Ben Stiller.

So let’s get to the discussion, what movies haven’t you seen that everyone else in the entire world (including Lichtenstein) has seen? OR!!! Even better…what movies have you seen and wish that you hadn’t? (I hear Knocked Up is as good as There’s Something About Mary…anyone? Anyone??)

Discuss.

I’ve never seen any of the Indiana Jones movies. And never Casablanca or Gone With The Wind. How uncultured am I?

I love Lloyd. He is my 80′s boyfriend.

I’ve never seen all of Say Anything. I’ve seen the bits that are in those compilation lists of the Best Movies or Best whatever. I really like John Cusak, too. Just haven’t been able to catch all of it.
My husband seems to think Blazing Saddles is great, but I couldn’t make it through the first 20 minutes. It just annoyed me. I also didn’t like Knocked up. She was just way too pretty for him, and he didn’t really have that many redeeming characteristics to make it believable at all.

Yay! Your site loads so much faster now! Looks so nice and neat, too! I only recently made myself watch Say Anything and thought it was okay. Most of the movies mentioned, (like 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Something About Mary, Meet the Fockers, Old School, Wedding Crashers, etc) I would not have found so enjoyable had my husband not been hunched over laughing so hard with tears streaming down his face. I call it frat boy humor and it rubs off on me, I guess?

So you finally moved! Congrats. It looks fabulous.

And it sounds like we have very similar taste in movies. I loved Say Anything, don’t like musicals (although I did enjoy the campiness of Sound of Music). I too have never seen Braveheart – I don’t really do the over the top Hollywood epic movies. Oh, and I had high, high hopes for Knocked Up. I don’t think I laughed once. They just don’t make decent comedies anymore – well, except for Borat. I nearly peed myself during that one.

I HATE Jerry MacGuire. Everytime I hear someone yell show me the money I want to karate kick them in the face.

I love (LOVE) what you’ve done with the place (especially the load time). I feel like I should take my shoes off or something it’s so clean….

Shhhh, I think Knocked Up was stupid. And I know that’s wildly unpopular to say, but, tis true!

I forgot how I got here but that’s no surprise given my inherent lack of direction.

Anywhoooo…I’ve never seen: any of the Rockies, most of the Jim Carrey movies (I chose to watch Cable Guy for my first one and it sucked so bad I could never watch another one), oh crap…I can’t even think of all of them…name one and I’m sure I haven’t seen it. I have kids…I vaguely remember there being popcorn and sound at the theaters.

OK, Napoleon Dynamite…everyone raved, we thought it was stupid…unless, perhaps, you were under the direct influences of illegal substances. I can see how it *might* be funny the more times you watch it but I haven’t commited to that yet.

I never saw War Games. It was huge when I was 12 or so.

I never want to see movies after I hear how “it was the BEST movie EVAH.” It usually sucks.

I may be the only person in America who can’t sit through Raising Arizona. It just annoys me.

I’ve never seen Fast Times at Ridgement High, or the Matrix movies, or Napoleon Dynamite.

Actually, there’s not much that I HAVE seen.

I love Ben Stiller, but I don’t love Something about Mary. My dh though, he adores it.
I do love the meet the parents movies, they crack me up.
I liked Knocked Up, but if you didn’t like the movies above you may not like it that much. It definitely wasn’t as funny as the hype.
Also, it’s the only movie I’ve seen in the theater in the last 3 years so that might have clouded my judgement.

Oh, and Napolean Dynamite – STUPID! Dumb and Dumber, Cable Guy, all movies my dh loves.
    And I don’t.

I hated Knocked Up. HATED. Not only am I guilty of that sin, but I have yet to see a single Jim Carey movie that I thought was even remotely funny.

Hey! Love your new pad. Luff it. Welcome to NotBlogspot. Farking blogspot anyway. :-)

I admit to not only not seeing movies, I hardly even know what movies are out there ot be seen. Bob is ALWAYS saying, “OMG! YOu’ve never seen [fill in social movie of the years 1875-2003]!!”

    Yea. I’m awesome like that.

Oh, wow. I can’t believe I just made it over here and You MENTIONED me in your post! How exciting. Well, you already know my secret…

There are many I wished I hadn’t seen. My sister called me to tell me how HILARIOUS ‘ Home for the Holidays” was. I think it had Robert Downey, Jr. in it. I hated it. It was so flippin’ stupid.

I have never seen “The Exorcist”. I went to the theatre to see it and was so freaked out just a few minutes into it, I had to leave the theatre. Never seen it.

And to the person above who mentioned “Sliding Doors” – that is one of my favorite movies of all time!!

You know i have never seen Braveheart either and people always act like its some sort of crime (being Scottish and that) , but im just not into historical movies.

DH has never seen The Wizard Of Oz which shocked me as i just assumed every kid grew up on it, mind you i also assume everyone would of seen Rocky Horror Picture Show and could’t belive he had’t

I had never seen SOM either (much to the hubby’s disbelief) until earlier this year when it was sent to us as a baby present. We watched it during our Dr. ordered 6 month seclusion (preemie thing), and I really enjoyed it.
I’m not a musical *fan* but I don’t dislike them either.

I thought Knocked Up was funny, but I like stoner (light) comedies (ahem).

VDog’s last blog post..Haiku Ouch! That Hurts Mama!

Ok, a million years later. But thank you. Truly, I hated both SOmething about Mary and Meet the Parents. HATED. I can’t stand Ben Stiller. But I pretend that I liked it, so I don’t have to listen to people rant about how I should just try watching it again.

Now Sound of Music, I do love it. I don’t really like any other musicals, so maybe you’d like it.

    Phoenix’s last blog post..Shrug
