Come Join My Camp

Because nothing says “I’m gettin’ laid on Valentine’s Day” like body-odor scented burgers.

Blech.

***********

Speaking of Valentine’s Day and White Castle (which is wrong on SO.  MANY.  LEVELS), Tate and I had a little disagreement about this.   Tate is certain that EVERYONE knows that White Castle has this Valentine’s Day “celebration,”  you know, like it’s common knowledge.  It certainly isn’t part of my common knowledge, nor do I think that it is part of most people’s common knowledge.  My theory was that maybe since I (thankfully) didn’t grow up in a town with Whities , I hadn’t heard of it.

But I hated to concede to TATE.

Luckily, his sister, who not surprisingly grew up in the same city, didn’t know about this ridiculousness known as a date to White Castle for Valentine’s Day.  So HA!  Well, maybe not HA! since it blew my proximity to a White Castle theory out of the water.  But!!  It did add a person to my never heard of this very bad idea camp.

So far, Tate 1,  Jennifer 2.

Helpa girl out, wouldya?  You’re in my camp, RIGHT?

Never heard of it. White Castle? Yes. Valentine’s dinner at WC? Nope.

My mom just offered last night to babysit on Valentine’s, and at such a late date, we may be relegated to a White Castle-ish affair.

You really ought to make a permanent post, linked somewhere on your front page, which chronicles all of these “games” betwixt Tate (IF THAT’S HIS REAL NAME (I’m still sore about Carson and Ella)) and Yourself, tallying up each category and score. For the record, I’m with you on this one.

Also, I love your new header. It just smacks of *rimshot*

Finally, did you know I have to add this link here below all on my own each time I comment? Because evidently CommentLuv does not Luv my blog and cannot get the feed. And I can’t be left out of the blog-linkie goodness, now can I?

My one experience at a White Castle involved me using their *achm* facilities (that you had to be buzzed into) to throw up while the guys at their weights worth in stinky burgers and nasty French fries.

I’m pretty laid back about acceptable dates and can say that this wouldn’t be acceptable in anywayshapeorform.

I say you’re right based on principle alone!

Hell No. No sane person eats out on valentine’s. or maybe that’s just me with so many years of being in the restaurant business behind me….

We lived 2 hours from the closest WC–and only partook of it while driving through that city on our 15 hour trip to my folks’ home state once a year. Never heard of WC for V-day. BUT I did know of the perfect gastrol-instestinal nickname for the burgers: the Sliders. I once ate six of them when a teen. I don’t think I’ve eaten once since!!

BTW: Coming to your new state for a short visit next week (as it is MY home state). Dunno if I’ll be close to you, but um, Hi! from Fort Wayne!

Krystal is slightly less gross than White Castle, for the record. Krystal doesn’t use nasty white and blue bathroom tile in the dining area.

It has to be the first time White Castle has done that. Mr. Husband is a life-long White Castle addict (I have no idea why I married him sometimes) AND lived in Indy up until high school, and he has never heard of it. I, to be honest, would never notice because just looking at the place makes me want to hurl.

I know about it, but have only known since last night, when they mentioned it on the news. So I think that still counts for you.

Only time I have heard about this was when I lived in Indianapolis…..they did a big thing on the news about how people go to White Castle on V day. The place will set up flowers, etc. Only time I have been inside was after quite a few drinks………Hope you are enjoying Indiana. I grew up in NW Indiana, went to college at I.U. The ONLY reason I even know about WhiteCastles in the first place is the film “Harold and Kumar go to WhiteCastle” and even THEN I thought it was a pretend chain until someone else told me it actually existed

Although, I don’t know that I would use me as any judge as I used to think that Estonia was a made up country only used in young adult fiction books and on Dilbert.

    (I know.)

Ugh – White Castle is a bad idea ANY day, but Valentine’s Day? And you need RESERVATIONS? I think not.

The last time I had a White Castle burger (and I use that term loosely) I wound up behind a display at Greenfield Village (in MI – the Henry Ford museum) trying NOT to throw up on the historical artifacts.

So count me in your camp.

I am de-lurking. I live in your new (lovely, ha!) city in Indiana and came across your blog on the moms forum. You have quite the following (and I like your header!).

First of all, welcome to Meijer country. I love shopping there for groceries. I think they have great produce and the best prices in town (especially when shopping their sales ads). I’ve also been really pleased with the Meijer brand, in general…if you’re into saving money in that way.

Eww…White Castle. My husband loves it–he “treats” himself and our 3-year old once in a while, but I don’t want anything to do with it. The special Valentines night there with table cloths, candle light, and reservations sounds dreadful. Doesn’t change the fact that their “burgers” taste like butt. I honestly have not had one since coming home from a concert very late one night in college and it was a regrettable experience.

Anyway, welcome! We have lived here for a 1 1/2 years and like it for the most part. I will say though that this is a VERY conservative town (or at least many of the moms that I have met here are) and that has been an adjustment for me.
