Making the World a Better Place, One Cereal Post at a Time

Haiku Friday

Mushy cereal
Ick.  Ick.  Ick.  Must be crunchy.
I love Frosted Flakes.

It’s time for another controversial post, don’t you think.  It’s been awhile since we discussed toilet paper direction or coke and peanuts, so I felt like it was time to spice things up a bit around here…and make the world a slightly better place tackling a very important subject…

Cereal.

I cannot STAND mushy cereal.  Blech.  After many, many mornings of having allowed my cereal to become mush during an extended soaking in milk due to having to feed my children, I’ve finally learned to wait to pour milk on my cereal until they are both settled and eating.  This means they both have food in front of them, drinks in front of them, bibs secured, toys out of sight, refills of milk and apple juice within arm’s reach, and a shot of tequila just in case. (I’m totally kidding about the tequila.  Sheesh, everyone knows you start the morning off with mimosas or screwdrivers or little Bailey’s/Kahlua/Irish whiskey in your coffee.  DUH.)

So mushy cereal.  It disgusts me, I much prefer my cereal to be crunchy and therefore delicious.  I know there are some people out there who purposely let their cereal sit in milk and ALLOW it become MUSHY.  *shudders in horror*

What side of the fence are you on?  Mushy?  Or are you awesome like me and prefer crunchy cereal?  While we’re at it, tell me your ALL TIME favorite cereal, sugarbombs be damned!

Remember my comment policy…be nice.  I mean, it’s JUST cereal we’re discussing today.  It’s not like I’m asking you to discuss Obama/Hillary/McCain.

To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:
1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What’s a haiku, you ask? Click here.

2. Sign the Mister Linky below with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your generic blog URL). We will delete your link if it doesn’t go to a haiku. If you need help with this, contact Christina or myself. REMEMBER…ONLY sign Mr. Linky if you have a HAIKU POST.

3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button above.

I don’t like mushy, soggy anything. I’m a freak that way. I stopped getting oil and vinegar on my Subway subs because it makes the bread soggy and lawd help me soggy bread gives me the heebeegeebees.

Sadly I have passed my neurosis on to my son. He now tells me everything is soggy. Including his gravy and mash potatos…WTH ?

The milk has to be ice cold. And the cereal has to be crunchy.

Frosted Flakes is my favorite. I also LURVE Reese Puffs without milk. Great snack!

MUSH=YUCK. You don’t have to gag me with a spoon, because the mushy cereal took care of it.

    Mushy = bad.

I like raisin bran but it gets way too mushy way too fast. This is why I’ve developed a love of Raisin Bran Crunch. Same goes for rice krispies. Rice Krispies Treats cereal stays crispy a lot longer than the regular variety. ;)

100% cruchy, my husband gets pissed when I won’t eat it if it gets soggy and I refuse to eat it!

Mushy cereal is totally unacceptable. My faves for when I’m feeling healthy: Frosted Mini-wheats, Honey Bunches of Oats, and Healthy Start. My faves for when I want to channel my inner 4th grader: Cocoa Puffs, Apple Jacks, and Cap’n Crunch.

My husband prefers mushy cereal. Makes me wonder how we ever got together, since I think that is gross-tastic. Must be crunchy!

Favorite cereal ever? I’m ashamed to say – Fruit loops. How bad is that?

Crunchy and sugary – which is why I like Grape Nuts so much. It NEVER gets soggy and it totally needs a few teaspoons of sugar.

My cereal has to be crunchy unless it’s frosted mini wheats. Then it has to be SLIGHTLY soaked in milk but it’s disgusting if soggy…

Crunchy, all the way. I have been known to pour out and start over if the kids overtake the allotted crunchy time. I love cereal. Frosted flakes, golden grahams, lucky charms, crunch berries all super yummy. Also like oatmeal raisin crunch – yum!!!

I (gasp!) don’t really like cereal. I will eat crunchy Rice Krispies if I have to, but otherwise cereal doesn’t appeal to me.

    I am weird.

crunchy all the way! I LOVE cereal…could eat it for every meal but I do try and pace myself.

    Hmmm…right now here’s what’s in my rotation:
*Strawberry Frosted Mini-Wheats–so yummy and I feel that they’re nice and healthy…it’s mini-wheats!
    *Cinnamon Life
    *Fruit Loops or Apple Jacks

What I need is one of those cereal bars like Rory Gilmore had at college on Gilmore Girls….that was the coolest!

I’m with you, it’s either crunchy or I’d rather not eat at all. If I want mushy cereal I’ll eat oatmeal, that’s not what I’m looking for in my Frosted Flakes.

I’m not terribly picky; of course I like it to start out crunchy but I don’t freak out if it turns mushy.
And I do wait for my Grape-Nuts to turn soft, I don’t wanna break a tooth!

CRUNCHY! Unfortunately, I don’t always get my way anymore, what with feeding the little Dude. Somehow, kids tend to get priority over me getting my crunchy cereal.

Mushy cereal gives me the heebie jeebies. It’s got to be crunchy! My all time fave are Frosted Flakes, but my baby is lactose intolerant. :( I haven’t had a glass of milk in at least 8 months, or cheesecake, or any cake. Mmmmm, omelet, and anything with a cream sauce! OK, got to raid the fridge.

I cannot eat mushy cereal at all. Not even slightly mushy. I think that is why the only cereal I like to eat is Grape Nuts. I don’t think its even possible to get Grape Nuts mushy.
