Where’d my baby go?
Once so needy, difficult
Now independent
“No Mommy. Carson
do it by hisself.” I watch
as he runs away.
He looks to make sure
I am watching, his face beams
as he climbs higher
I see no fear, as
he reaches the top, “ready,
set, go!” Down he slides
I swoop him up and
hold him close, sniff his boy smell
Dirt, grass, sweat, and love
To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:
1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What’s a haiku, you ask? Click here.
2. Sign the Mister Linky below with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your generic blog URL). We will delete your link if it doesn’t go to a haiku. If you need help with this, contact Christina or myself. REMEMBER…ONLY sign Mr. Linky if you have a HAIKU POST.
3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button above.

Aw, super sweet awesome ‘ku!
(the other) Maggie’s last blog post..Day of Silence
It’s bittersweet seeing them growing independent isn’t it? On the one hand we don’t want them to not need us anymore, on the other hand it’s great to see them accomplishing things on their own!
Great Ku

He’s already saying that? Oh, I’m so sorry, Jennifer. Why do they go and get all independent of us? It’s NOT allowed. We’ve recently started that, too. It kills me to watch him not wanting me as much, so I totally understand what you mean.
Anglophile Football Fanatic’s last blog post..HF: House of Mouse
OH! Dylan has turned into a ball of sweat recently. Weird. Testosterone in action, I suppose.

There is something about that tangy little boy smell that just makes you want to bury your face in the crook of their neck and INHALE, isn’t there?

I’m so late this week…slept in *oops*
But you’re right…they grow up way too fast. Miss M has become the 3yo that pushes me away. *sigh* So sad…and depressing when they get so independent.
Sadie’s last blog post..Hai-lo Summer Ku
I vote that they should only do the yucky stuff independently – blow their own noses, use the potty – but for fun stuff like slides they should still need us. Lovebug just decided he didn’t need my help on the slide anymore either and I can’t stop kicking myself for all those times I encouraged him to slide alone. What was I thinking?
Jerseygirl89′s last blog post..For Once, I Have No Guilt
Aw. I remember when Babyhead started going down the slide by himself. You get filled with pride that they can do it…but at the same time sad that they are moving away from needing you so much anymore. Just like the other day Babyhead decided he can get his juice out of the fridge himself! LOL
*sniff*
Sandy’s last blog post..Babyhead had his surgery…
Love this. And so hard the internal battle between wanting them to be independent and wanting them to always be your baby.
Teri’s last blog post..(A)Musing
Aw. We both wrote about our kids today, although I wrote about my younger one.
It’s so hard to watch them do it on their own, isn’t it?
Christina’s last blog post..Haiku Friday: Simple Beauty
I so identify on the “where did the time go”. Now that my kids are about to go in kindergarten (kindergarten….it just feels weird saying it) I feel like I really need to have just one more baby
