Lollipop, Lollipop, Oh Lolli, Lolli, Lolli, Lollipop…Dun, Nun, Nun, Nuh

Carson had his very first lollipop the other day.

You would have thought that I’d given him an entire gallon of yummy guacamole and a bag of tortilla chips and told him to go to town.  Or possibly that’s just me.

I’d gotten two lollipops from the bank teller and decided that it would be safe to give him one as we drove back home.  (To be clear, I actually was doing the driving, Carson was safely strapped into his carseat in the backseat.  Just wanted to clear up any confusion.)  I offered Carson the choice between red and orange and he chose the red lollipop.

It’s times like this that make me realize that I should NEVER EVER EVER EVER leave home without my camera.

The look on his face was priceless when I gave him the lollipop.  It’s like he couldn’t believe I’d given him the most amazing surprise in the entire world., despite the fact that he wasn’t sure what to do with it.  I explained that he was supposed to lick it.

Ever so carefully, he slowly stuck out his tongue and gently licked.  His eyes grew wide, a smile spread across his face, and he started giggling.

**giggle, giggle**  “This cirtle tanny is dood!” (translation:  this circle candy is good!) **giggle, giggle**

“It’s called a lollipop, Carson.  Do you like it?,” I asked, also giggling.

Apparently he DID like the lollipop quite well.  It took him until almost dinnertime nearly four hours later to finish it, only taking a break for a short nap.  Thank goodness the excitement never wore off so that I was able to get his picture.

He never did stop giggling.

I love how she is sneaking around the corner trying to devise a plan to get that sucker!
I can’t believe it took him so long to finish. When Little Miss had her first one, I barely had the wrapper thrown away before she was asking for another one!

    That’s awesome!

I especially love the look on Ella’s face in the background of the second picture, like she might be able to sneak up and steal it from him… hee.

I have a secret: Sacha has had MANY lollipops in his 20 months. In fact, they pass them out at the end of mass to all the little kids. I think that’s why he loves church so much. That, and he loves making the sign of the cross. Or maybe he thinks it’s the sign for lollipop…

How cute! That last photo, with Ella in the background, that’s one of those candid moments that are so priceless.

Once a month my daughter and I go to pay the mortgage at the bank, and she knows that the drive-thru lady has lollipops, which she calls “suckers”. So I have to listen to her ask over and over for a sucker the whole time we’re waiting. She knows that once the canister thing comes back with my deposit slip, it will have a sucker in it!

Allie adores lollipops. The only bad part is now she tries to talk to the bank teller in the drive-thru banking section. She yells, “YOU GONNA GIVE ME ON OR NOT??”

I came via Dad Gone Mad’s Links of Love to say hi.

I love the lollipop picutres. I have two little boys so I have a soft spot for them anyway, but I love how his eyes are just sparkling with the pleasure of his first pop. And Ella peeking in to see what all of the fuss it about is priceless.

Little Miss had her first sucker at 10 weeks! She was colicky and it was one thing that settled her down. Love that Ella is making her way over to check out all the action! Such cute kids!

Yeah, I held out with my first and didn’t give him any processed sugar until age 2. 1/2 Then the second child was not quite 2. The third was chomping down at age 1 and I wouldn’t be surprised if my husband’s given the 8 month old licks of ice cream already!

    He is precious!
