Too Bad It’s Not Nachos Filling My Plate, Then I Wouldn’t Be So Overwhelmed

Last week, our Internet?  It died.  So did some, but not all of my channels.  Died.  Kaput.  I don’t EVEN know how the heck that happens??  This, of course, means two things…I’m stealing AGAIN and I’m waiting on Comcast to SAVE ME fix the problem.   STRESS!

I’m already quite stressed since I have A LOT on my plate right now with playdates and phone calls to make and “vacations” to pack for and writing obligations.  For the next 763 weekends, we have something on the calendar.  As much as I like to have plans, I get VERY OVERWHELMED when I see NO upcoming breaks.  All these weekend activities are usually in need of some sort of planning and preparation by moi and guess what??!!  That STRESSES ME OUT.  One of the upcoming events we’ll be attending is a family reunion.  Now I realize that certain family members will read this and I apologize for what I’m going to say.

Just the thought of spending the weekend with people I don’t really know very well, in a “cabin” with a two year old and a one year old, where you have to bring your own sheets and towels (YAY!  MORE work for my VERY FULL plate!), makes me feel…wait for it….OVERWHELMED.  It will take me a week to pack and prepare for this “vacation” and probably two weeks to recover.   Also, we’re supposed to bring something homemade to sell at the reunion fundraiser…add just ONE MORE THING for ME to do!    Really, if I could, without hurting feelings and causing an enormous fight with Tate, I’d rather just stay home.

The beginning of our SUMMER WHERE WE OVERWHELM JENNIFER began Memorial Day weekend.  It was not exactly a stellar beginning to our marathon event-filled weekends.  For weeks, we’d been planning to go to a minor league baseball game.  “We” (READ:  TATE) had looked at the schedule and determined that Memorial Day weekend would be PERFECT for a baseball game.

To find out what happened, check out my guest post over a Fussy’s place.  I know, I know, you hate having to click.   Do it for me, though, remember I’m feeling OVERWHELMED.

(Also, today begins my weekly beg fest for an SLR camera from one of those wonderful companies like Canon!   Hello, there Canon!  You sure are looking gorgeous today!  My what LONG eyelashes you have!

How about sending me a camera to review?  Here’s the angle I was thinking of going with…a somewhat novice photographer meets the love of her life…a new SLR!  I will go on and on and on about how quickly I learned to use the camera and how we lived happily ever after.

Please!!!!!!  If I don’t hear from you I’ll be calling Nikon.)

  3. Aw, crap. I forgot all about the big ol’ family reunion thing. I guess I better figure out if we’ll be partaking in that particular brand of crazy or not. You know, because I love the idea of being locked in a cabin with all of my in-laws. I love it a lot.

  4. Thanks for being so sweet to this lowly gal. And, I can tell Carson’s moved on to Pinky Dinky Doo…cause you’ve got the horn tooting do doo da doo big SAT word. I’m okay with that show. I mean one SAT word a day? Makes 30 minutes of tv doable. Right?

  6. This sucks because I was going to ask you to help me with half a dozen projects on which I am behind.

But you did mention nachos, so it’s okay.

I really need some nachos right now. Could we get a nachos company to sponsor a snack-break at BlogHer? Nevermind, I can’t wait that long.

This is how I get distracted and behind on projects.

  7. I know the feeling! I’m looking at things that we plan on doing…HOPE to do, and WANT to do…and have yet to find the happy place of it all being done. Not wanting the kids (read: DC) to be bored…I’m trying to plan more…but executing is a different story!

No baseball game, eh? Lovely! I bet your kids enjoyed the zoo more anyway… :)

BTW, did you post this for a short time last night? Because it showed up in my reader and then when I tried to comment it wasn’t here…
And how is it that May was pretty empty on the calendar and now I’m looking at multiple things to do every weekend for the foreseeable future! Like, until school starts again!

  14. Breathe! I’m sure the reunion won’t be that bad. Although the thought of having to bring something homemade is kinda crazy. Oh yeah, and having to bring your own sheets kinda sucks!

  15. Internet not working? That’s the most stressful of all.

I was just looking at my June calendar and realizing there’s like TWO days all month with nothing going on. I’m tired.

  17. This is why we just don’t do family reunions. If we don’t attend any on either side, no one will get their feelings hurt and we don’t have to hang out with a bunch of people we don’t know and (if we weren’t related) wouldn’t hang out with under any other circumstance.

    Just… Say… No….

  19. Trips always stress me out. It doesn’t matter if I have all the time in the world to plan, it still overwhelms me. Having to bring something homemade to sell would probably push me over the edge. Yikes.

    I’m loving your blog.

  21. We’ve got a rule — no double booking weekend days, no matter HOW short the event.

Sorry you’re feeling overwhelmed, hun. That sucks. Makes me anxious just thinking about it. Heh.

On the bright side, my MIL is bringing us her Nikon D70s for FREE!! when she come on Weds. HOLY SCHNAP!!
I bought a non-zooming lens, and will commence full on mommy bloggerness once I get the hang of it, LOL.

Good luck on your quest. :D

  22. i sometimes just leave the house right at dinnertime and walk to the park, where i swing (on one of the flat swings that doesn’t pinch your butt) until i feel better. does wonders. and if you want some more plans that may involve margaritas (they can be very last minute) head south on 37 and call me for a play date. :)
