The Suit of Motherhood

Despite the numerous tangible reminders of being a real live MOM…the pushing a baby out of my girly bits (twice!), the resulting damage to my girly bits (twice!), having nursed two babies, two poopy butts in need of cleaning, toys that have left wounds on the bottom of my feet from stepping on them, uncountable sticky handprints, the crumb trails…

And of course…THEM.  The children!  Reminders everywhere!

I’ve NEVER felt more like a mom, though, than I did when I put on a skirted bathing suit

(I should have warned you to shield your eyes from the pasty white glare of my dimply thighs.)  (My apologies.)

    Amen sistah!
I think you look pretty cute hon. I wear a top (like yours) and running shorts.
My triple M (major mom moment) came when I held Princess down at 20.5 months screaming in an ER so that someone could sew her tendons in her wrist back together without anesthesia, that’s when I really felt like a mom.

you are truly brave, but still adorable. I see white, but no dimples :-)

If you do not tell me RIGHT THIS SECOND where you got that bathing suit we are no longer friends! You could argue the point that you have no idea who I am, but my point, and I do have one, is I’m going to San Diego a month from today, and no lie, I HAVE to find a suit like that. PUH-LEASE SPILL!!

I think they make maternity suits the way they do so that when you graduate into the Mom suit you actually feel cool. This is a serious upgrade from the suit I’m sporting at 35 weeks preggo.

I’m saying this in a nice way, but most women don’t look as bad as they think they do in a swim suit. And I think you are looking ok. You could go skimpier if you wanted.

The suit is from Sears AND!!! it was 50% off. After being in the water, the bra pads got all funky and out of shape and made my boobs look deformed.

I really looked hawt after the pool yesterday with my deformed boobs and sunburn.

Oh the reminders of children and what they do to our bodies. I work out and am usually pretty carefull about what I eat but still my body has never been the same since having children…and this body will NOT be in a bikini this summer or any summer for that matter. Now I am going through menapause and let me tell you that does NOTHING for my body either….oh well.

I do think that my legs are much whiter than yours though! I actually think the suit is kinda cute!

My mom is Brazilian. I spent part of my childhood growing up there and the other part visiting. People from Latin America and Europe have a different view of the body than many Americans. Women’s bodies are beautiful even if they are not a size 4 or even a size 10. So despite the fact that my tummy is still not flat after a year + (although, I admit that I haven’t tried to flatten it … too busy!), I will be debuting my post twins body in a cute black with tortoise rings, halter bikini from the Gap. I just can’t wear anything other than a bikini.

Girl, that suit is too big for you! You are swimming in it, hee.

    You look fantastic.

My personal goal is to reach a point where I rid myself of MOM JEANS. Skirted bathing suit I will do, but mom jeans are killin me! I walked into forever 21 yesterday with my teenager and felt like spitting venom at all those little twirps who were perfectly tanned, highlighted and small enough to fit into their stupid trendy clothes. The suit is fine, just don’t do mom jeans like me. I felt like a loser all day long.

Skirted swimsuits are just one thing we moms need. They are necessary, and they cover so much! Yours is way cute! I wish mine had longer skirt. Mine doesn’t cover too much more than briefs. Fortunately, I won’t be wearing it this year. It won’t fit around my pregnant belly.
