I’m typing this as I’m on hold to make an appointment with a doctor.  Apparently my symptoms warrant me being seen TODAY, or tomorrow at the latest.

On Saturday, I noticed that I had some yellow discharge from one of my breasts.  Of course in the back of my mind it could be, you know, SOMETHING BAD that starts with a C, or it could just be (and probably was) a plugged duct.

When they say they want to see me TODAY, it makes me think of that BAD thing that starts with a C.

***

I have an appointment at 2:40 TODAY.  For my hopefully plugged and infected duct, and not, you know, something BAD.

FREAKING OUT.

If you’re still breastfeeding (or still producing milk, anyway) and you were away from home for 4 days (for Blogher) then chances are EXCELLENT that it’s just a plugged duct, or an infection, or that you’re getting weird cream as your milk dries up (if you’ve recently weaned, esp. if you weaned while at BlogHer, which I would never judge you for because I went to St. Thomas to get away from my 2.5 year old and wean her!!).

Remain calm. I’m nearby if you need me. I can bring you medicinal zucchini bread. If you need someone to watch the kids, call me. HOG-FATT – the extra T is for tacky.

    Prayers to you,
    Amy

That is so scary! I hope everything turns out to be ok. I was in a similar situation about 2 years ago, and it really freaked me out when the doctor had them squeeze me in the next morning. He also had them schedule me with a breast cancer specialist. It turned out to be nothing, but they sent me into a whirlwind of fright. I hope that they are just being overly cautious and that everything is ok. Will be thinking about you.

Yellow goo is bacteria. That’s my decidedly unprofessional opinion. But, like you, I would run off to the doctor to hear it from them and to get my antiyellowgoo pills.

Looking forward to hearing the good news in the good way you have of writing all things good. Good? Good.

You are probably already at the doctors but I wanted to be sure I got my two cents in. Having had a discharge before I was told that there isn’t really the need for panic unless it’s bloody or greenish.

That said I do hope that is the case for you and I’m keeping my fingers crossed!

The good thing in this story: your doctor’s office took your symptoms seriously and made sure you were seen right away. It’s so important to have a good physician. And, it means you don’t have to stress for a week before being seen.

The bad thing: You have to stress at all.

Thinking of you today, sending good vibes, hoping for the “all is well” report tonight.
