Tate and I are huge Cardinals fans. For those of you who don’t know, one of the Cardinals’ biggest rivals is the Chicago Cubs.
Although it would be a cold day in hell before I’d ever root for the Cubs, I do have the utmost respect for their stadium…Wrigley Field. Two weeks ago, we got to go to a game between the Cards and Cubs at Wrigley. It sounds totally cheesy, but it was a dream come true to get to go to Wrigley Field. SO THRILLING!!!!
Without Cathy, this trip never would have happened…so THANK YOU, Cathy!
Cathy did all the very nerve wracking legwork to get the tickets, complete with desperate emails between us. Where should we sit??? OMG, they are SO EXPENSIVE!!! Right field side or left field side????? For some reason it never occurred to either of us to just exchange phone numbers. Don’t let the $22 price on the ticket fool you, we paid DEARLY for the tickets on StubHub. (It was worth EVERY penny, though.)
Not only did I get to meet Cathy, I also got to meet Mandie. She met us for lunch on the Magnificent Mile.
Before the game, we sat and had a beer (or five) with Harry Caray himself.
Sadly my beloved Cardinals lost to the stinky ol’ Cubs. But on a positive note, we drank LOTS more beer, Old Style OF COURSE. (Also sadly, I regretted the last 5 beers that I drank the next morning.)
The second best part of the trip was that I got to fall in love with this goofy guy all over again. It was wonderful to have him all to myself.

Glad you got to go to Wrigley - it sounds awesome! We went to a game at Busch a couple weeks ago (my first time there), and they lost there too.

The best team did NOT lose - they did, in fact, win. That said, CUBS CARDS games are always special - no matter who wins.

We, too, are huge Cardinals fans. I, growing up in St. Louis, naturally am. Brian, growing up in Peoria, IL is one of about 50% of the town being Cardinals fans, the other 50% being Cubs fans. We are between the two cities now living in Peoria. We keep saying we need to get up to Wrigley because who knows how much longer it will be there. We just never seem to do it. This year, we didn’t even make it to a Cards game sadly.

Yes, StubHub tickets end up costing you enough to sell kidneys on Ebay to pay for it.
For the game we went to last year (labor Day weekend, which probably made things worse), the four tickets we had up in the nosebleed section ended up costing us $250. Geez…

I want to go to Wrigley! I’m a huge Cardinal fan living in MO and my boyfriend is a huge Cub fan from IL. We took my boys to their first major league game last year at Busch Stadium…..Cardinals vs. Cubs. The boys and I were dressed in our Cardinals finest and my boyfriend in his Cub blues. We got more than a few looks. Unfortunately we lost that night too. Go Cardinals!!!

We saw the Cubs and Cards there a few years ago and got to talk to Tino Martinez. He signed my sister’s hat for her - totally starstruck! Wrigley Field is one of my favorite baseball stadiums of all time. I can’t wait to do another stadium trek - need to see the ones on the west coast:)

Born and breed Braves fan here but always wanted to go to Wrigley to see a game. Finally got to do it this summer as a guest of a company that I send a lot of money with at work. They had gathering in the not-so-swanky outfield VIP bleacher box. It was terrible because it’s not open air and very low in center field. You can’t hear the game at all because it’s enclosed so they pipe in sound from the TV on a terrible speaker system that you can’t hear when there are tons of people.
So I apologized to my hosts and explained to them that I didn’t want to spend my first time at Wrigley in an isolation box (they agreed and would have left with me if they could) and excused myself go find seats in the outfield bleachers. And THAT WAS AWESOME.
Watching the game amongst the true Cubs fans in the historic outfield bleacher was a dream. I had the best time and it made for a memory I’ll always remember.

I have driven by Wrigley many times but never been out of the car in the area. And unfortunately I’m soured on Chicago this evening since my daughter was stuck on the turnpike - broke down and spent about 3 hours in there trying to get going again.

My husband is a passionate and lifelong Cardinals fan. I grew up a Reds fan. We now live three blocks from Wrigley Field. We calls ourselves “Cubs socializers” but NOT fans. We take special care to dress our boys in their Cards or Reds gear on days the Cubs play our “home” teams.
We are happy to go to games and drink beers (but not Old Style, we can’t do it) and soak up the cool atmosphere of Wrigley. With a toddler and infant, we don’t get much chance to “Cubs socialize” lately, but I do love that if I am out walking with the boys on a game day, there is a real sense of fun and anticipation in the air. There are pain-in-the-neck aspects of living so close as well, but mostly, it’s pretty cool.
Looks like you had a great day and what WONDERFUL pictures. Your new camera is definitely worth it!
