Oh hi. I’m commenting on my own post.
Let’s get the cake decorating critique out of the way.
Yes I know it looks like crap. Holy moly it’s hard to get icing smooth. Also, it’s two sheet cakes on top of each other and getting them even gave me a run for my money.
Secondly. I look AWFUL in that picture. Kelly green is NOT my color, why haven’t any of you told me??? Now I have two kelly green shirts and a kelly green trench coat. Crappity, crap, crap.
Lastly, please remember that we’re in a rental and so don’t judge the awful decor. Kuntry heart shelves and glass top brass dining room tables are not my thing.
First the cake looks great. Better than most of my creations! LOL
Second…even if the cake didn’t look great do you really think he would have cared? If you had a cake that looked like a turd and put the tractor on it he would still have loved it, then demolished it.

OMG I am so stealing that cake for next year…this year I did cookie monster cupcakes, which were a big hit but what I’m assuming is crushed Oreo dirt is calling my name…

I think the cake turned out great. I almost made one similar to that for Zachariah’s 2nd birthday, but I opted for a barn cake and set a John Deere figurine next to it on the cake board. Now I know why.
Uhh, my dining table is glass topped, wood, with brass legs. I’m not saying I LIKE it, but I live with it.

@heather It is indeed crushed oreos. Too bad we didn’t actually get to eat that part.
I don’t mind the glass top…except how gross it gets with one very messy boy.
The really cheap brass-like legs and chairs are really terrible, though.
Holy Moley are you kidding – taht cake looks incredible! I can’t even begin to imagine tackling such an piece! We head to the local cake maker and get our girl whatever she wants! I wish I could be a this kind of momma! Carson is one lucky guy!

You’re nuts! That cake looks great. And who cares anyway? It’s the thought, and TASTE, that counts. It seems to have tasted fantastic!
Great job!
It’s amazing how long we’ll take on something to just have it destroyed in a moment!

Great cake!!!! You are awesome. And it looks yummy. I want some. Oh, and shouldn’t that place at least have floral wallpaper in the kitchen too? I mean, they should really stick to their theme.

The cake looks absolutely fabulous, we are always our own harshest critics.
I love the style and color of the sweater, I think it might be the lighting, that makes you think it doesn’t look right. I dunno.
It’s amazing how quickly they can demolish our hard work.

I bet he had a GREAT time doing it, tho! Thats what counts, right? Did you get any pieces that didnt look plowed under? (yeah, thats my priority – the eating!)
The cake is totally cute. He is quite the lucky guy to have a mommy to bake for him.
PLEASE tell me he destroyed it AFTER you’d sung happy birthday, etc.
Jen L.´s lastest post..Maybe he can fix our dishwasher
@Sticky There was a strip along the back of the cake he didn’t destroy, so I cut that part off for eating later!
@Jen We luckily had sung to him and I’d cut off about 1/3 of the left side of the cake before he started “plowing his field.”
I thought the cake looked great! I should be so talented. It looks like it tasted good.

Fabulous cake – and the matching sweater is a nice touch, too. Maybe next year, take the tractor off the cake after he blows the candles out so he doesn’t destroy it? Then again, I’ll bet he always remembers this particular birthday cake just for the fun he had off-roading.

Oh, dear God, if that’s a crappy looking cake, what the hell are the things I make? It’s fabulous! Oh, wait, was that false modesty. Ahhhh. Now I get it.
I love that you let destructo-boy play with his cake. That’s too cool.
