Destruction

Two painstaking days to create the cake, demolished in less than two minutes by one tiny tractor and one tiny plow, driven by a tiny, deranged farmer named Carson.

Oh hi. I’m commenting on my own post.

Let’s get the cake decorating critique out of the way.

Yes I know it looks like crap. Holy moly it’s hard to get icing smooth. Also, it’s two sheet cakes on top of each other and getting them even gave me a run for my money.

Secondly. I look AWFUL in that picture. Kelly green is NOT my color, why haven’t any of you told me??? Now I have two kelly green shirts and a kelly green trench coat. Crappity, crap, crap.

Lastly, please remember that we’re in a rental and so don’t judge the awful decor. Kuntry heart shelves and glass top brass dining room tables are not my thing.

First the cake looks great. Better than most of my creations! LOL

Second…even if the cake didn’t look great do you really think he would have cared? If you had a cake that looked like a turd and put the tractor on it he would still have loved it, then demolished it. :-)

OMG I am so stealing that cake for next year…this year I did cookie monster cupcakes, which were a big hit but what I’m assuming is crushed Oreo dirt is calling my name…

I think the cake turned out great. I almost made one similar to that for Zachariah’s 2nd birthday, but I opted for a barn cake and set a John Deere figurine next to it on the cake board. Now I know why. ;)

Uhh, my dining table is glass topped, wood, with brass legs. I’m not saying I LIKE it, but I live with it.

@heather It is indeed crushed oreos. Too bad we didn’t actually get to eat that part.

    October 29, 2008 | 11:22 am

I don’t mind the glass top…except how gross it gets with one very messy boy.

The really cheap brass-like legs and chairs are really terrible, though.

The cake looks absolutely fabulous, we are always our own harshest critics.

I love the style and color of the sweater, I think it might be the lighting, that makes you think it doesn’t look right. I dunno.

It’s amazing how quickly they can demolish our hard work. ;-)

@Jen We luckily had sung to him and I’d cut off about 1/3 of the left side of the cake before he started “plowing his field.”

Fabulous cake – and the matching sweater is a nice touch, too. Maybe next year, take the tractor off the cake after he blows the candles out so he doesn’t destroy it? Then again, I’ll bet he always remembers this particular birthday cake just for the fun he had off-roading.
