About three weeks ago I got an email from a fellow blogger asking for my address because she was already WORKING ON HER CHRISTMAS CARDS. What the heck??????
To be honest, I’m not sure I remembered to send thank you notes from last years’ Christmas gifts, let alone started thinking about sending Christmas cards THIS year.
Recently I’ve become obsessed with several home management and decorating blogs, like Nesting Place and Simple Mom. I’m completely in awe of their creative ideas and hope that merely by reading them, I’ll suddenly become organized and crafty by osmosis through my fingertips on the keyboard.
I have also become a crazy, stalker-like voyeur on Flickr’s Working Closet pool where people who have cute clothes, post pictures of themselves wearing their cute clothes. I usually look through the pool while I’m wearing pudding crusted jeans (Levi’s), a wrinkled T-shirt that rides up, showing off my muffin top and is kelly green, which I’m realizing looks awful on me (Gap), and socks (Wal-mart.)
My point?
I cannot keep up with the Joneses. My Christmas cards will be late this year, I can’t decorate. Once upon a time I was organized and then I gave birth to two children and voila! Organizational abilities…GONE. My wardrobe blows, even my hair isn’t doing it for me anymore. Don’t get me started on my make-up…what the heck happens to it everyday??? I put it on, but within an hour, it’s disappeared and showing off my dark circles and large pores.
Since I’m a frumpy, disorganized, uncreative wanna-be, today’s giveaway is PERFECT.

I haven’t even hung anything on our walls and we’ve been here five months. I have too many kids to keep up with the Joneses, although it sure would be nice.

Jen I think you need a facial/massage day to get you back on track…I know I do. =)
I used to keep up but considering I bought the sprinkles for my son’s birthday cake on his actual birthday and his Halloween costume at lunchtime on Halloween, I would say I am definitely no longer ahead of the game…

okay, in my lame attempt to keep up with the joneses and my perception of everyone’s expectations of me – I feel like I get nothing done. My list is long, I get totally stressed, meltdown and then just sit on the floor and play with my little man. No worries – my cards will be late too as well as fall decoration up with the Christmas ones

Oh, I totally gave up keeping up with the Joneses.
For the record, I never even got out my Christmas cards last year. AND the photo thank you cards I made for my kids’ 3rd and 6th bdays in Aug and Sept are still sitting on my counter in an envelope.
Also, I did a couple of contests on my blogs and the prizes have been sitting on same counter for a few weeks.

Ooh – good giveaway. I usually end up doing a (really un-happy) hour-long photo shoot with my boys at home, then sending the (half-assed) pic to the 1 hr processing at Sam’s Club and doing easy photo cards. Eh…but that works, too, right? So long as they get mailed BEFORE Xmas…

i’m way too lazy for competitions, kay? i always buy my christmas cards in october and send them out in january. never fails!! however, kenzie LOVES LOVE christmas so we decorate for her. but we dont have a yard full of giant inflatable snow globes, yet.

I’m trying hard to keep up. I’ve already scheduled our portrait session to get our pictures done. But who knows if I’ll actually get them addressed and stamped in time for the holidays!

I like the dark green one with the swirls.
Maybe it’s the teacher in me, but I’m pretty much done with the cards already. I have been working effortlessly in photoshop trying to make my own xmas card….determined to do it myself. I just finished it yesterday….now all I have to do is get a picture of both my boys smiling!

Martha Stewart is my idol. I love her and I strive to be like her. Everyday, I clean, craft or feather and ask myself. What would Martha do/think?
My Christmas Cards were ordered in September. They are addressed and just waiting for me to put the finishing touches on my Holiday Newsletter. I’m looking forward to cooking a huge Thanksgiving Dinner where I will have 6 guests and then two weeks later I will be hosting a Mother/Daughter Christmas Tea Party for my closest friends. Oh and our new Christmas Elf arrived yesterday…I can’t wait for him to entertain the kids!

Just had to comment on this post as it made me laugh hard! I have a friend that has two girls – they always match and seem to coordinate with mom, she always wears pearls, she has scrapbooks and organized scrap things, her home is a magazine…it drives me NUTS!! I dont get it AND I envy it! lol go figure

i DO not keep up with the jones – as a matter of fact when i drop off at school there is ONLY one other mom who looks about as messy and frumpy as me. i love that lady and her baby in tow is usually naked, HA – mine is at least dressed…but there is one thing i always try to keep even ahead of the jones and that is xmas cards….so i would love a chance ot win

I most certainly do not keep up with the Joneses. I don’t even have a good excuse. I am just lazy and I hate shopping. I like spending my weekends in pajamas catching up on movies, not entertaining friends and showing off my fabulous life.

Dude, the Joneses might as well be on another planet. I do always have lofty expectations. The entire 4 years we were in NYC, I would always say “This year we can do a Christmas picture in front of the tree at Rockefeller Center!” We didn’t even go NEAR Rockefeller Center most years! I do try to do a snapfish update from time to time to keep my mother in law happy, though.

I don’t keep up with the Jones at all, but I do make lame-@$$ attempts from time to time. I actually baked cookies and took them to the neighbors’ houses for x-mas last year. There has been ONE year that I was on time with ALL the x-mas cards AND all the buying/shipping of gifts–and I was 7 mos pregnant. I have NO idea how/why I managed, and I’ve never been able to repeat it!

I was the Jones, but now I am their next door neighbor … almost and yet not quite there … yet. I do keep up with holidays, birthdays, showers, etc. I already have my toddlers holiday outfits purchased and most gifts already purchased or at least know what I am purchasing. I also manage to wear make-up and I shower every day. However, we moved in three years ago and I still have several rooms with boxes. I’ve been on a real mission lately to finally get my home in order and completely decorated. In my defense … I have 21 month old twin toddlers.
I really like “Bubbly Wishes”.

Forget the Joneses. Just remember that, while some people are out there, trying to keep up with them, you have the great fortune to be at home with your children. I’ve been there, and while it’s not easy, I wouldn’t trade the days that I spent at home, wearing my mom jeans and trying to remember how I looked with makeup, for anything the Joneses might have.
