So, what did your friend decide? And my, that is a coincidence, both of your sisters-in-law picking the same dress BTW, I personally think the dress is gorgeous and doesn’t scream “bridesmaid!”, and I’d at least try to get it cleaned, after hanging it out in the sun for a couple of days and rinsing it if possible.

It looks like a dress that you…err…your friend…could wear again, so I would throw the bag in the back yard for a couple hours (as wide open as possible, and away from a spot accessible to neighborhood dogs!) to air out a little, and then (with a face mask, perhaps, and dish gloves) pull the dress out & HOSE IT DOWN. After all the *ahem* chunks are gone, put it in a clean bag & take it to the cleaners. That’s what I’d do, anyway…

I'm one of those people who usually keeps something like a bridesmaid dress for several years, thinking I'll find some way to reuse it, only to toss it later when I just get sick of looking at it. Air it out in the sun, just dump the bag and run. The sun will kill the stinky bacteria and make it reasonable to take it to the cleaners. As for the closet of old dresses, donate them to an organization that provides prom dresses to high school students OR... an organization that provides dresses for young Marine wives to wear to the birthday ball. .-= Katrina´s last blog ..OK OK, I get it... =-.
