I agree - it's weird that BlogHer's site is so hard to figure out... considering... IT'S A SITE ABOUT BLOGGING! They really need to get someone on that.

And, I understand Stumble Upon, sort-of, but I never use it. I don't think enough people use it for it to be a good resource. SU needs to hire some folks away from Facebook in order to get their site really jammin successful.

And, I love SITS. I have NO idea how the girls do it, but they actually KNOW the people on their site. I have gotten personal email returns from them. And hello? They have thousands of followers. I joined Momdot and have gotten ZERO traffic from that. But, SITS has given me probably half of my followers. Those gals are awesome.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who is completely flummoxed by the BlogHer site. I thought it was just me! I love that you're doing this series, Jennifer. It's nice to get some tips and advice from someone who learned all this on the fly themselves. Keep the posts coming!

Healthy Jo, I'm so glad you mentioned bit.ly and tinyurl. I also prefer bit.ly, I love that it tracks referral links.

Also, I'm glad you mentioned LinkedIn. I think for niche bloggers, LinkedIn is a great way to network. For us 1 gazillion mommybloggers, it's a little less useful...at least it has been for me.

I need to figure out Twitter. I set up a profile after BlogHer when I realized I was one of four people there who did not tweet, but still I don't do much.

I am so glad you said that about the BlogHer site. I have NO IDEA what's going on there. Am I member? Am I not? Who checks the site? No idea.

The thought of even 250 hits in one day makes me want to mess myself so I will definitely tune in for the StumbleUpon lesson.

Also, you inspired me to give NaBloPoMo a try. We'll see . . .

How cute are you? Note: that's a statement, not a question. Love your post and writing style. Relatively new to this blog thing so thanks for the brain share!

As an added "thumbs up" to the value of Twitter - that's how I found this post. For those times when 140 characters just won't do, another item that helps a lot on Twitter are the URL shorteners like tinyurl.com or bit.ly. I like bit.ly because it also keeps a log of the links I shorten and how many "tweeple" clicked on the link. The shorter the tweet the more likely someone will RT (retweet) you.

If it's appropriate for your content, I have to say LinkedIn has generated a worthy amount of traffic. I haven't maximized my efforts there, but they do have a Twitter-like "what are you doing" post available at the top of your profile AND a plug-in that automatically feeds your blog posts on your profile page. It is of course a business networking site, but numerous people have clicked through to my health and wellness site and it's helpful when I have regional conferences to offer.

Can't wait to read your Stumble Upon post as that's one trail I have yet to blaze, but I've been holding a torch out for a while now. Blaze on!

Thanks much!

PS: Would love for you to check out my site and add to your blogroll if you find it worthy.

Hello,
This is uncanny! I'm a new father in London and have been writing a blog for my baby son to help keep my parents and in-laws (who live far away) updated with his adventures.

But other friends and more distant relatives have enjoyed reading it and after adding adsense I've been amazed that it's actually earning little Angus a few pennies.

To turn pennies into pounds I searched for 'blog sharing promotion' which brought me directly to your blog, which I think is fantastic. I can see how you probably started along the same lines as I have, but now have plenty of readers and some great links. Plus Google clearly likes you too.

Bravo!

I shall give Stumble Upon ago and will be back to read more about your marital disputes and family fun. :-)

p.s. It was fun being Rick-rolled after clicking on your image.

p.p.s. If you can add http://amk-myblog.blogspot.com to your blogroll I'd be most grateful
