New! and Improved! Jennifer! It’s! Exhausting!

I drank two cups of coffee this morning and I don’t even drink coffee and I feel a leeeeetle bit like I might have just intravenously injected the caffeine because I feel a little bit loooooopy.  This must be what it feels like to be high, high, high!

I needed the two cups because I got up VERY EARLY to go running.

I got up VERY EARLY to go running because I have big, beefy thighs and I’m tired of carrying around the jelly donut that’s strapped to my waist.

Not only am I motivated! to exercise!, I’m motivated! to improve ALL of myself!  Why not start now!

Writing:  I’m doing this whole NaBloPoMo thing to try and reset my love of writing and blogging.

My marriage:  I don’t like Tate about 75% of the time and I’m trying to cut that number down to about only 10% so I’m reminding myself to stop being a dick to him.  I’ve also been listening to Focus on the Family marriage related podcasts (while I’m running) (which are kinda weird to listen to, but also kinda good.)

Health:  Did I mention I’ve been running?  Well I have been!  And I’ve been drinking more water, which is almost harder than running because I can’t ever remember to actually drink it.

Parenting:  I’ve given up yelling for Lent.  Who cares that Lent doesn’t start until February?  I can give it up now.  It’ll be good practice because it’s going to take that long for the not yelling to actually stick.  Also I’ve been reading some parenting books on topics such as “how to keep your head from exploding when your child throws a tantrum in a busy restaurant” and “exorcising demons from toddlers.”

I know “experts” say that people are “supposed” to make small changes when trying to achieve their goals, but if I do that, I’ll be 350 lbs, divorced, dehydrated, hoarse, AND my blog will suck even harder by the time I get around to fixing all that needs fixing.

    Best! Of! Luck!

    You! Can! Do it!

And, just wondering, from a total techno-dud: are podcasts free to download or do they cost? Or does it vary from site to site?

I hate my jelly donut middle too. But will never run. it’s just not going to happen.

I suggest Family Life Today podcasts too. They’re better suited to podcasts than Focus, in my opinion. Focus chops them up into too-short segments and spends too much time on the intro/conclusion thing. Family Life Today spends a lot of time advertising their retreats, but the podcasts are much longer. And very good too.

Good luck! You’ve inspired me to go running. Or drink some water. Or at least think about it for awhile.

I was talking with a girlfriend last night about communication (our hubbies were in the garage talking computers – same thing) and she has just read a book written by a couple about the different ways male and females communicate. Men stand side by side and talk – not looking face to face – and women are eyeball contact talking (so true). So, she said the best times of talking with her hubby is in the car – he’s side on, and she can look at him.

It also talks about the cycle of love/respect. Men don’t care whether you love them or not, as long as you respect them; and women (generally) don’t care whether you respect them or not as long as you love them. So, if we are feeling unloved, we tend to disrespect our spouses, and if they feel disrespected, they then to pull back on the love, and so it goes. So…if we feel unloved, we should look to see how we are disrespecting, and if they feel disrespected, they should look to see how they are unloving.n (Puts the onus onto me if I feel unloved).

The book also said that the girls who sit doing their nails while their boyfriends (husbands) work on their car have it right. The men feel they have spent good (quality) time with their girls, and feel respected, that what they are doing is worthy, and we then get to feel the loving.

I thought it really interesting, even though I kinda knew it sort off. And if I think about it, it’s true.

I also need to drink more water, but not so much after 6pm!

Not sure which impresses me more– the fact that you will be writing every day or vowing not to yell. Don’t think I could ever manage either.

Oh, how I want to get motivated to exercise again. But. . .but. . .but. . .(I have lots of buts). I would also like to be a nicer wife, stop yelling and write more on my blog! We’re twins!

At least I’ve figured out the hair bangs thing. ; )

You CAN do it! Best of luck in your endeavors. I think it’s a great time to work on things when you’re really motivated.

Also, I’m working on parenting right now too. Less yelling, more listening, etc. And I’m currently reading “The Well Behaved Child” by John Rosemond. While I’m not sure I agree with everything he says, there’s a lot of good advise in it too.

I think it’s great! I have been doing all this in my head but it’s not been translating to real life very well. I have fallen off the exercise wagon – I still go to the gym a couple times a week but when I was training for my 5k I was there 6 days. I NEED to drink more water and OMG the yelling at the kids – actually, I’ve been doing pretty good at that lately. Sorta. BUT I’m learning math and making my back-to-college to get my BS degree plans and thinking all kinds of good changey-thoughts. Guess I should do something about it. Like clean my kitchen. Oy.

Also, I think I need to borrow those parenting books.

Yay for running! I’ve begun walking about 5km (a mile) again since I can’t run because my jelly donut is more like a cake and I have to work up to it. LOL

I’m going to find those podcasts because Dude? I am up there at the 75% (more like 90) and it’s not fun.

Re: Your husband….now you can take this with a grain of salt since I am DIVORCED and have been for 16 years, but I think it is SO important to remember that your spouse is your best friend (even when you don’t like him very much). I see too many people treat their dogs better than they do their spouses.

We tend to tiptoe through the relationship we have with our girlfriends, but don’t approach our spouses with anything close to kid gloves.

Just a thought and best of luck with it all!

    I! Adore! You!

I’ve been working on similar things lately.

    *Assvice Alert*

I found that (for me) the best way for me to remember my water is to FORCE myself to drink a whole glass right before every meal. For me that = at least 4x a day. At first it was a “Force,” now it’s a habit. Bonus? I feel more full and eat less at every meal, too. SCORE.

    Good luck, cutie! Muah!<3

(Oh, and I'd appreciate the sharing of any tips on that reduction thingy from 75% to 10% *coughcough* *whistle*)

I can’t decide which is harder…the not yelling or the writing every day. But I signed on for NaBloPoMo for this month too, so I guess that’s probably the easiest.

I like my husband about 50% of the time…much improved since last year, so it CAN get better.

I’m not big on exercise though (which would explain why I am the way I am)…so maybe I’ll take up your challenge of not yelling instead.

    GOOD LUCK!

I have been doing the whole water thing as well, what works for me is the sparkling water that you can at Target. The Tangerine Lime and Pomegrante Cherry flavors are by far the best. It doesn’t gag me, and at 60 cents for the whole day doesn’t leave me broke either.

Good luck with the whole yelling thing…it comes and goes at my house.
