I used to LOVE grapefruit. We’d go to our favorite restaurant for breakfast on Saturday morning and I’d order a HUGE glass of cold grapefruit juice and the – I’d chug it. Boy. Did that ever wake up the salivary glands.

Then I went on cholesterol meds. Lipitor. Of course, at the time they didn’t know that grapefruit juice AMPLIFIED the effect of Lipitor by a factor of two or more. And it made you tink you’d gotten bad juice. Or the flu. Or food poisoning. They found out in a hurry. The SECOND bottle of Lipitor I ever got had a warning label plastered all over it. About how you’re not supposed to eat grapefruit when you’re taking Lipitor.

I went back and apologized to my favorite restaurant for all the unkind things I thought about them and their food – there for a while. By having a HUGE, cholesterol laden breakfast. Because I roll that way.

I was searching for a Samoa recipe the other day and read something about this ice cream! I will definitely be keeping my eye out for it in the grocery store. That ice cream sounds right up my alley.

for the love of frank, i never understood who bought these 20 lbs of grapefruit (or oranges, too) from me when i was in HS marching band!

i peddled them door to door.
“would you like 20 lbs or 40 lbs of grapefruit in december?” …THANK YOU. (yes. that’s pounds. of fruit.)

but i sold them.
and god love my sister who took over my last 2 years and sold them all for me.

WHO BUYS THIS STUFF?
oh, right…. tate apparently.

anyway- glad the kids like ‘em.

oh- and thin mints are my GScookie of choice.

I need you to come over and do the "good mom" grapefruit routine for me. For years I have tried to enjoy grapefruit, but I cannot. Ick. Samoas, however, are a whole different story. Best cookie ever. I recently bought some grapefruit (not *surprise* grapefruit, mind you…) but when I served it to my 4 yr old twins, both made a face and said “I don’t like this!” and left the table.
Props to you for getting them to eat it!
