I know that you don’t really want to hear about all the great things going on in my life right now. My kids have been the absolute apples of my eye for the past few weeks, it’s like I’m totally in love with them! They’re so charming, if I told you just how charming they were, you wouldn’t believe me. We’ve finally found a church that’s great and not weird! We can finally answer the age old southern get to know you question, “So, where do you go to church?” Yay for Jesus!
I LOVE MY HUSBAND (well, mostly)! I have friends, the kind you can call and go out to lunch with and have inside jokes! I’ve been exercising (Yes, AGAIN. But this time it’s going to stick!) I’m a recycling maniac and it makes me feel ridiculously satisfied and accomplished!
All those great things are SO BORING, in terms of blog entertainment value. I’ve been around long enough to know that ya’ll prefer the “woe is me” brand of blog post.
So here are a few things in my life that could use some improvement.
1. I can’t make iced-tea.
2. I’m horrible at getting birthday/occasion cards in the mail on time and sometimes they don’t make into the mailbox at all.
3. I’m starting to break my own rule of replying to email and I’m appalled and annoyed with myself for the unreplied-to emails in my inbox.
4. Sometimes I can’t keep my mouth shut when I should really KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT.
5. I’m terrible at making important decisions.
6. I’m supposed to record my receipts on our spreadsheet, but I haven’t done it for about six or seven months.
7. If there are Bagel Crisps or Fritos in the house, I can’t stop eating them.
8. I cannot keep my toilets clean, THEY ARE OUT TO GET ME.
9. Most of Ella’s clothes are stained, partly because she’s the messiest child alive and partly because I’m too lazy to stain treat.
10. My blog kind of sucks.

your log definitely does NOT suck. my kids clothes are stained too. despite stain treatment. and i don’t even TRY to clean my toilets. unless we’re having company. that isn’t related to us. which isn’t often.

um, by “log” i meant “blog”
but if you had a log it probably wouldn’t suck either.

Sadly I can identify with several of your listed items. Sigh.

The great thing about not entering expenses on the spreadsheet, is that at least on paper, you are super frugal.

Dude. Bagel Crisps. are. awesome. I’m ashamed to admit I can sit down with a bag of them and a tub of hummus and not stop until the hummus is history. It’s a small tub, I tell myself as I DO NOT look at the nutritional data.

My mom was over watching 2 of my kids the other day and replaced my daughter’s shirt she had been wearing in the process. When I came home, she told that she had gotten tomato sauce on it from lunch. Except she hadn’t had tomato sauce at lunch. “Oh, that’s not fresh. It’s just a stain.” This could be repeated with most of my kids’ clothes.
Also, your blog doesn’t suck. Not at all.

Last week my oldest came to me and asked where the toilet cleaner was because a “gross ring” is starting around the edge of the water.
In my defense, their bathroom hardly ever gets used. They much prefer to pee all over mine.

Annie uses this stuff from Tide for stain treating – Tide Stain Release. She RAVES about this stuff. She actually has FUN doing the stain treating, because she’ll take the stained stuff and when it’s being worn again, she gladly points out that the UGLY STAIN which the wearer once got on the article of clothing is NO LONGER THERE and PLEASE DON’T REPLACE IT. (emphasis mine).

love your blog.
and YAY for all that goodness you posted.
i am a fan of the good. it’s the good AND the woe that makes a person.
and man, i stopped stain-treating when little bean stopped pooping mustard-poops. considering she’s over a year and a half now, well…. yeah.

I actually really like reading that people are in a happy place. Most people blog mainly to vent about the not so happy places, or at least the funny-but-seriously-annoying ones, and while that’s always good entertainment I do sometimes worry that we bloggers are an unusually sad or whiny or unlucky bunch.
I’m super glad your husband is on your good side and that your church is nice and normal! Took me twenty one years to find a church that is (mostly) not weird and that I actually look forward to attending, so that’s a great accomplishment! Most people give up after awhile, I think, even if they really want to be in a church family, so good for you for keeping at it until you found one.
I agree with you. Toilets are vicious.
Iced tea: In a gallon sized pitcher put one Constant Comment tea bag and 4 black tea bags. Add the hottest water you can run out of your tap and 1/2 cup sugar. Wait.
Once it’s the right color, fish out the tea bags and put it in the fridge.
Best tea ever.
Google calendar is my suggestion for the birthday stuff, and then I got distracted.

I liked the upbeat post! I was very happy for you. I don’t buy #10 for a second or I wouldn’t read your blog.
It sounds like you have found a home and I couldn’t be happier for you. And Yeah you found a church…. now if only I could!
PS: NO ONE IS PERFECET but thank you for making me feel a little better about me.
oh yeah… I’m from Texas and make the best tea around! Just ask my yanke friend and her kids. haha
I microwave 3 small tea bags in two cups of water for 3 minutes. (I use me pyrex glass measureing cup for this) I have a large pitcher and put 1-1/2 cups of sugar do not add water yet… after the tea is finished cooking make sure it is dark… if it isn’t wait a minute and let it teep… It is is then add the hot tea to the sugar and stir once the tea is melted then add water and stir. put in fridge or pour over ice. I can’t ever wait so my family always pours it over ice as soon as it is finished being stired. Put the remaining tea in the fridge. I had to teach my friend years ago because her kids would drink two large pitchers of tea everytime the came over.
Let me know how you like it.
You can throw 6-8 tea bags in a glass gallon jug and sit in the sun till it becomes the color you like and is warm. Add sugar while warm and stir. Then refrigerate or pour over ice. Best tea ever.
The Tide stain stick is amazing! John used it on a shirt he had to wear for a wedding that got stained at the last minute.

Excited about life or Woe is me, I think your blog is awsome and I get sad when I check and there isn’t a new one posted.
My 8 year old (who actually IS the messiest child around) has suddenly started worrying about how her clothes look. She has her own stain stick that she uses as soon as she gets anything on her (which is often). It’s working so far!

And I’m so happy that you’re happy! Yeah, it’s not great for the blogbrain, but heck, what could be funnier than dirty toilets?

Hmmm. I could honestly say that your blog does not suck. If it did, I wouldn’t waste my time reading it! I find it funny, and I can totally relate to it, which is what I look for in a blog.

Am loving you whether you are up or down. But especially because you’re honest.
I like the “boring” stuff and the “happy” stuff! I’m glad all that good stuff is happening so I wouldn’t worry about being “boring!” That’s my two cents, for whatever it is worth.

Love the blog. With 3 boys in my house the toilet is only clean for about 5 minutes after I’m done scrubbing it so I’ve given in/up for the most part and also clean them when either company is coming or when I’m just so grossed out myself that I can no longer take it! I’ve also never been good at greeting cards of any kind. I buy them and keep them on hand for those special occasions, just never seem to get them posted and out the door : (
Number 10 is a BIG. FAT. LIE. Talk about faux. lol
I am glad to hear that things are looking up in your world.
