I know it’s a bit early, but I couldn’t resist buying Carson and Ella these Mario and Luigi costumes. How cute are they?!
There are two ways to look at this.
1. I could have waited until Halloween to show them the costumes I bought for them.
Possible pros: They’d be new! A novelty!
Possible cons: There’d be a very real possibility that they’d refuse to wear them come Halloween.
2. As evidenced by the picture, I went ahead and showed them the costumes I bought for them.
Possible pros: They’ll get a chance to play with them before Halloween and will be so excited to wear them on Halloween.
Possible cons: There’s a very real possibility that they’ll refuse to wear them come Halloween.
Halloween costumes and the wearing thereof are precarious, either way.

Hehe! That is a dilemma. My daughter wanted to be a fairy, but after seeing Beauty and the Beast, she now wants to be Belle. I think I’m just going to bite the bullet and have her be Belle. But she won’t be allowed to play in her costume until she tricks or treats in it!
Okay, I am crazy jealous! I have twins and this was one of the themed costumes I picked out for my boys, but of course they refused and are now insisting on being superheroes.
I know it is Halloween and it is all about the kids, but come on, isn’t the “themed” Halloween costume what having twins is all about;)
Your kiddos look adorable! I am absolutely green with envy:)

Go with the pros and forget the cons.
They are adorable and they know it
I found a Buzz Lightyear costume from last year’s supply at Walgreens for 1/2 price. Dude wants to be Wow Wow Wubzy again. I have found the Wubzy shirt but not the tail. Hopefully he will realize that Wubzy won’t happen and will relent to my Buzz schemes. If not, then Sissy will gladly give him a Buzz costume for Christmas.
My son is all about dressing up in costumes. My daughter never was. Go figure.

Alexis LOVES the dress up, so I always give her the costume early. By the time Halloween rolls around, she’ll have conned her dad into buying another one anyway.

Haha AWESOME! I had wanted to get something similar for my boys, but can’t find anything like this in the UK.

True, double true friends. Kids are fickle little twerps about Halloween costumes. I will say that after age 5-6 or so, they are much more predictable. Only a few years to go!

I saw those last year. My twins are still too little for them, but they are TOTALLY getting those one of these days.
Oh, funny! Yes, Halloween costumes can go either way.
I keep trying to convince my four kids to go with a them (like Star Wars or cowboys), but they’re just not going to agree!
You can’t go wrong with Mario & Luigi. My oldest daughter was Mario when she was 12…he never gets old

I think it’s a great idea to give them the costumes early. We went to Goodwill and got a couple of different ones and my son has been running around as a Ninja Turtle for the last week. We have a Transformers costume stashed in the closet, but we’ll give it to him before Halloween so that he can get used to it.
How cute is that?! Adorable!

I was thinking the same thing. I just got them costumes and let them wear them the other day to play in. they were so excited. Big possible con: the costume might get peed on before Halloween. I’m hoping not, but you never can tell.

That is a fantastic idea! They look so adorable in them too!
How can you look at that picture and not giggle! My boy wants to be Luigi and my husband already has a Mario costume (yes, my 34 year old husband still dresses up) so we’re all set!
Yup, we’re totally rocking the Mario and Luigi (and Yoshi) costumes at my house, too. As in now.
I figure if nothing else, if I spend over $100 on their Halloween costumes, we should at least get a month’s wear out of them.

I have 3 Transformers costumes I’m waiting to unveil. Pretty much had the same train of thought as you about it, except I’m worried that my destructo boyz will BREAK or CRUSH or RUIN their costumes before Halloween.

I suspect you’re more likely to get your money’s worth in terms of time spent enjoying the costumes this way
