Every time I attend a blog conference, I’m adamant about the fact that I’m not attending to learn anything new. “I’m just going to hang out with friends,” I tell anyone who will listen, because this blogging thing I do is just a silly hobby, right? Truthfully, though, I always learn something or at least confirm the things that I already know, and not in a waste of time sort of way, but a positive, sigh of relief sort of way. Blissdom especially has a way of leaving me feeling uplifted, empowered, and worthy.
Blogging isn’t a useless waste of time, whether it’s my hobby or my business.
These friends I’ve made on the Internet are real.
I’m a talented writer and storyteller.
I’m a photographer and I’m pretty, damn good.
I belong.
I am enough.
And SO ARE YOU.

Absolutely! And I confirm all of the above about you!

Yes you are!

You definitely are. And I definitely needed to read this today.

I really want to read Brene Brown’s book because I think it would help me actually remember all this stuff about myself!
You are awesome. Yours is one of the blogs I never miss!

I got chills. YOU ARE ALL of those things and I can completely identify with your choice of hobby!

I can relate to this. I admit to being a blogger – that it’s my hobby. But I’m reluctant to call myself a “writer.”
You are a talented writer, storyteller and photographer!

We are ALL writers, any of us that pours out our stories…popularity, numbers, none of that nonsense stuff determines it.
So proud of you! You ARE all those thngs and so much more. Love ya.
You are all those things and more. I have truly enjoyed getting to know you. Love your confidence and spirit!
Thanks, Beth, I’m really glad we’ve met and have gotten to know one another!

I hope you will go to Blissdom! It’s a really great conference, I love it’s focus, it’s size, it’s location…

We didn’t spend nearly enough time together…especially outside of loud places! We should have gotten a beer together somewhere!
Awesome. Simply awesome. We should all give ourselves this type of pep talk every morning about whatever it is we do, writing or otherwise.
You are all those things and more.
Thanks for all the words…

Sing it, lady!
I felt like I had to justify my desire to go to BlogHer or any other event to certain people and got so tired of it. You’re so right – these are real friendship that we’ve all made, and there is absolutely no need to explain it to anyone who doesn’t share the same interest. No one needs to explain why they go on a golf weekend or fishing trip, so why should this be any different?
And yes…you are a talented storyteller and good enough and you belong. I certainly hope you don’t remind yourself of that every day!
I’m going to my first blogging conference this summer! I can’t wait. I’m going to BlogHer 11. I figure, might as well make sure the first time is a huge one, right? I can’t wait!

You’ll have such a great time at BlogHer! It is huge, but it’s also such a great way to connect with so many people!
it was really great meeting you and spending some time together

It was great meeting you in person, too! I felt like we’d known each other for a long time.
You are so RIGHT! I doubt I’ll ever make a dime blogging and I no longer care (much) about traffic, number of comments, etc. What I DO CARE about are many of the real friends I have met through the blogosphere, the real support and inspiration I find there, and the fact that writing my blog is one of the only things I do just for me.
No way I’m going to make it to San Diego, but I hope to do Blissdom next year or Bloggy Bootcamp in Chicago.
You are a great writer, and I am so excited for each new post of yours (hint, hint).

I’m definitely not going to San Diego either, it’s just too far from home and our anniversary is this summer, so I think I’d rather spend money on a trip for both of us.
I really hope you do come to Blissdom! (It’s way less intimidating than BlogHer, in my opinion…it’s such a good size and everything is in one place!)
First – miss you.
Second – love that quote.
Third – miss you.

Thank you so much, Elaine! I’ve been feeling so regretful (is that a word??) about that session! There was so much that I wanted to say and it just didn’t go the way I planned. Anyway, I hope we’ll meet again next year at Blissdom!
I’ve been supper busy and have not had time to read my blogs! I’ve missed your writing. Hope all is going well in your world. YES what you do does make a difference. Keep up the great work.
