I met a fantastic man last weekend. He was handsome, with dark hair and a charming, sweet smile. We flirted and made eyes at each other while holding hands and breathing in the salty air. Sometimes we spoke of deep, heart, secret things and sometimes we talked about the ordinary. We really heard each other.
When I spoke to him, I didn’t raise my voice. I looked into his eyes and really saw him and nuzzled my cheek in his neck without thinking about what was on my to do list. The only distractions were the sand between our toes, bright sunshine, and the waves breaking noisily just steps away.
We got to go back to our home place and reset. No kids. Just me and that man I forgot I knew.
That man I met with the dark hair and sweet smile, his name was Tate and we fell in love all over again.
Hilton Head, the beach, and tiki bars serving pina coladas will do that to a girl.

My husband and I had the same experience when we took a week long vaycay sans kids for our 10th anniversary. It resulted in us planning a 3rd child, that mad love
Brought tears to my eyes. So beautiful and so true. Every couple needs some time away like that!
So glad you had time, just the two of you. I think that is SO important.
Such a great thing to reconnect and just love each other. Congratulations on finding your true love again.
awesome
Good for you both! Toes in the sand and a little rum with a handsome man is good for the soul
How wonderful. I’m insanely jealous as I’ve been itching to do the same thing for several years now, with no luck. Life with four kids, 3 cats and 6 chickens requires more than an hour or two alone with the husband every once in a while.
So glad you got this time. My hubby and I do this every year for a weekend at least (though this year got side-tracked by heart probs which will hopefully be all sorted by next week – praying).
One comment my daughter made about your pics: “the shadows in the water isn’t complete – it’s only the bottom of the heart, they should have used their arms to complete it!”
We are planning a getaway this winter/spring for our 10th anniversary. We need it BAAAAAD. The quiet! The leisure! I cannot wait. Glad you had an amazing time!!
Sounds soooo wonderful!!! Congratulations on your “new found” love!!!!
Lovely. So important to take time to reconnect like this. And I’m slightly jealous of your getaway. My husband and I are having dinner tomorrow night at a Peruvian restaurant (although not in Peru, sniff) and I’m jazzed about it. But I’ll take what I can get!
That’s awesome and I love the pictures. It’s easy to forget how much we love our husbands. They’re fun, they get us, and we married them for a reason. My hubby and I did the same thing a few weeks ago in St. Pete Beach FL. Cheap Date Daquiris at the daquiri deck in Madeira Beach make a wife happy
Then we came home and my husband got fired from his job. Ahhhh….life
He got a better job in Point Clear AL (you’re old stomping grounds right?) in 2 weeks so not a bad ending.
You are lovely.
Steph
so wonderful!
enjoy
Hi Jennifer!
Is there an email where I could reach you regarding business?
Thanks so much!

Very nice. Short sweet and extremely touching. Photos complimented your story wonderfully.
WAAAAA! I want a vacation with my hubbyyyy! Alone, no kids, just me and my sweetie piiiiie! BOO HOO HOO HOO!
I love those moments. My guy and I had one – I actually skived off work for the first time ever and we went to a lake for a day. Just the two of us, some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and water, sun and trees… It was bliss. Thank you for sharing yours.
I’ve saved this so I could make a proper response. Remember this. Savor it. You’ll need it (again) in another 14 years or so when the children are away at college and you have each other… Remember that you are this much in love.
