If You Made Your Kid’s Valentines, You Can Skip This Post

This is for all of you who didn’t make Pinterest-inspired Valentine’s Day cards for your children.  No pictures of your kids with their fists held out, holding a blow pop, or Sweetheart boxes converted to iPods or iPhones, or Rolos made into dynamite.

My kids went to school today with store bought SpongeBob Valentines and EVERYONE SURVIVED.

You’re welcome.

We’ve done it that way before too. It was something with silly bands in them last year, straight from Target. I don’t know what got into me the year. I’ll probably take the easier route next year. Classic is good.

Yep, same here. And after today, only 3 more years of Valentine’s Days parties before I’m d-o-n-e with this nonsense. #fistpump

I think anything your kids have fun doing and are happy to give out is great. I cherished the extra time I spent having a silly valentines day photo shoot and then my daughter and I together adding cute embellishments and writing out everyone’s names. We were the ones who made those “pinterest inspired cards” you spoke of. I say its all about teaching our little ones to take the time to be grateful for family, friends, teachers, classmates etc NO MATTER how you choose to present it.

Keep that in mind when your daughter brings home store bought Fun Dip Valentines that T picked out. Must have been late in the day when he chose them…I totally spaced on the messy colored sugar everywhere factor. Sorry:)

Love it! I’ve been off work since 12/30 following brain surgery. I thought with all this time off I should do something fun like make some complicated valentines that would make all the other mother’s jealous. lol Well we went to the store about 3 wks ago and the kids saw all the valentine stuff and picked store bought cards. They don’t care nearly as much as us parents do, what kind they take.

They are darling and they look very happy! My little girl had holographic puppy and kitty ones. Sometimes when I am in the mood and have time, I make valentines for my family; it’s one of the only crafty things I ever do. But there’s no way I’d waste that kind of effort on a bunch of little kids who WILL NOT CARE.

Those superman PJs just rock. And we had store-bought Hello Kitty and Cars. Because I finally realized it wasn’t about me wanting to do some Pinterest craft. It was about my kids who both wanted to run around the aisle at Target and find the perfect box for their friends. That’s how we did it when I was a kid and I loved it so much. I think we are all going crazy with the kids’ holidays and birthday parties – I’m definitely one of them. But I think I want to jump off the crafty train. Or at least slow it down a bit.

    yep. store bought.
but i guess i went a step further and had a no-character valentine. just puppies and kitties.

i’m not even sure little j will be focused to even make a valentine activity today!

i will say all of her cards came home – and there was only one (easy) handmade card. several character-bought ones. and a TON of candy!!!
    oh man!

I made photo valentine cards for my daughter (mostly for the blog post) and she didn’t want to give them out. So I went to CVS. 10 seconds and $2.99 later we were good to go. Live and learn.

Mine went to school with the Skittles ones that they filled out on the bus.

At least I hope they filled them out on the bus & didn’t just eat 50 small bags of Skittles themselves.

Thanks for the perspective. It’s easy to let my brain and creativity get ahead of my time, abilities and budget! Sometimes I have the extra resources and sometimes I don’t. This post reminds me that we survive either way it goes. Thanks!

Shoot, we didn’t even DO “Valentines”. We had a party at our Homeschool co-op and I brought 2 bags of Bubble Gum. We just dropped them in each baggie and no writing was required. Win WIn.
