Friday night, the kids and I had the privilege of attending the Titanic Museum’s Christmas kickoff in Pigeon Forge, TN.
I think the picture above speaks volumes about how much fun we had.
Along with several other local mom bloggers, we were treated to a private, self-guided tour through the ship. We had been invited to the ship before, and enjoyed it even more this time. Ella was treated like a princess, with bows and curtsies, despite her boarding ticket declaring her 3rd class status, while Carson was treated to a gentleman’s salute. There were many people stationed around the ship explaining different aspects of the fateful voyage, the people aboard, and the artifacts, including a story about a child’s bear named, Polar. In the children’s area at the end of the tour, an animated Polar talked personally with each child. Carson and Ella couldn’t figure out how Polar knew their names and could see what they were doing!
We all headed outside after the tour and listened to Christmas carolers and watched as the three wise men rode by on camels. Following the lighting of the Christmas tree, it began to “snow!” I’d told the kids that it was going to “snow” that evening at the Titanic, and they were not disappointed! As it snowed, we watched an amazing fireworks show.
There is really nothing I love more than seeing the look of awe on my children’s faces. They truly had an amazing night and are still talking about the snow and fireworks three days after the fact.
I’m so thankful to Erin Wicker at the Titanic Museum (and Ali James at Knoxmoms.com) for inviting us as their guests for this very special evening. The Titanic Museum will have “snow” every Friday and Saturday night until January 1, 2011 and I’d highly recommend checking it out with your family!
Disclosure: We were invited by the Titanic Museum to this event. Every word of my post is from the heart and not at all influenced by the free tour. It was just *that* fun.
