Schmoozing Away in Blogaritaville

I may not be at BlogHer, dammit, but it doesn’t mean that I’m not AWESOME!!!!

That’s right, I’m AWESOME!

Here’s why…

Dawn from Coming to a Nursery Near You awarded me with the Schmoozer Award.

“As it goes, schmoozing is the natural ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” Good schmoozers effortlessly weave their way in and out of the blogosphere, leaving friendly trails and smiles, happily making new friends along the way. They don’t limit their visits to only the rich and successful, but spend some time to say hello to new blogs as well. They are the ones who engage others in meaningful conversations, refusing to let it end at a mere hello – all the while fostering a sense of closeness and friendship.”

Funny, in real life I’m a DORK. In the blogosphere, I can schmooze with the best of them! Thanks, Dawn! The award means a lot to me!

Time for me to spread the schmooze and there are many of you who do your schmoozing quite well.

Shauna at Pass the Chocolate…I see your comments everywhere I go!

Who Cries Over Spilled Milk…I also see your comments everywhere I go!

Kara at You Can’t reason with Crazy…Ditto. See above.

Karly at Wiping Up Snot…She’s having a great week, getting such a good review and all! I wanted her to feel like she’s on a roll!

JJ at Gaining Balance…I think you were already awarded, but how could I not award you! You are such a faithful commenter and I also see your comments ALL OVER the blogosphere!

*******

I’m not EVEN done! Check this out….

Ladylike4 at The Life of a School Bus Driver awarded me the Creative Blogger Award!

Thank you so much for thinking that I’m creative. Most days I feel dull and boring and uninspired, so your awarding me for being creative is spectacular!

Here’s who I award…

Nell at meanwhile…I love her posts and her writing style. EVERYONE should check her out. Right. NOW.

Cris at June Cleaver After a Six Pack…Great writer! Great posts! We have lots in common!

Casey at Moosh in Indy…She had an orgasm on the treadmill. Her ability to write about it makes her pretty dern creative if you ask me.

Mrs. Flinger…she makes me giggle. I love her. Please don’t get a restraining order.

And last but MOST DEFINITELY NOT LEAST…

Andi from Poot and Cubby…She my new bestest blogging best friend who may very well somehow be related to me or may be a clone, like Dolly the Sheep. She’s creative and funny and pretty and I love her, too.

Go forth to schmooze and spread your creative love!!!!

June Perfect Post Awards

I have never known what to say to someone when they’ve had a love one die. I certainly have never known what to say when the person who has died is a child.

After reading this post, beautifully written by Bon from crib chronicles, I wept. I wept for the loss of her son, Finn, for the loss of Liam, whose death this post was in response to. I wept because I’ve been the person who did not know what to say, so I said nothing. Nothing at all.

Bon gives us a starting point to begin a conversation with her post. She tells us not to forget or pretend to forget those children. We can ask about their lives. We can say that we’re sorry.

There is nothing that I can say in this post that could match the eloquence in which Bon wrote. Hers was a Perfect Post.

June 2007 Perfect Post Awards

Thank you, Bon, for giving us the words.

You can find all of the other Perfect Post recipients at Suburban Turmoil and Petroville.

I Wanna Rock!

Jenny at Absolutely Bananas awarded me this!!

I’m just a leetle beet excited! Thank you!

There are lots of Rockin Girl Bloggers out there. Here are a just a few very deserving women.

Sarah at In The Trenches of Mommyhood. My New England gal pal. So witty and clever. I love hearing about her boyz and their neverending adventures!

Mamma at Mamma Loves. I’m fairly new to her blog, but I love her. Her recent post about her adventures in a port-a-potty sealed my devotion to her blog!

Erika at Plain Jane Mom. I just know we’d be friends in real life if she didn’t live all the way in California, that is if she’d have time for me! She’s quite busy with all her blog reading and different websites!

Poot and Cubby. I am a very new reader to her blog and I love all her posts. We have loads in common and similar senses of humor.

Megan at Velveteen Mind. Amazing writer. A-MAZ-ING. I’ve met her in real life, so hopefully her smarts will rub off on me!

Heather at The Queen of Shake-Shake. Her posts give me blog envy. Thank goodness I know her in real life, or she might think I’m stalking her!

Thinking Blogger Award was Bestowed…On Me!!!

Lene from Families are Like Fudge nominated me for the Thinking Blogger Award. After having written a post or two that don’t exactly fit the mold of a Thinking Blogger, this award is especially appreciated. Sometimes after posting one of my NOT deep thinking posts, I feel like I should say, “But wait, it’s just a joke. I’m smart. REALLY. I am! I have a Master’s Degree for goodness sakes.”

Thanks Lene, for looking past my silly posts and seeing someone who actually does think. It means so much to me.

Now I get to choose 5 people who make me think.

First off is Sara from Suburban Oblivion. Hers was the very first blog I ever read, before I even knew what a blog really was. I had visions of bloggers being hunchbacked men with warts and moles and coke-bottle glasses. Obviously, I learned from Sara, that the blogosphere is a wonderful community, with open arms and thinkers! And I’m NOT just nominating her because I know her IRL. I’d nominate her if I’d never met her.

Secondly, I’d like to award Heather from the Queen of Shake-Shake. Again, she’s not just getting my nod because I also know her IRL. She can write about hemorrhoids, aunt flo, and gossip. But she can also write posts about her children that make me weep and think. Apparently she’s made several others think, as I think I’m the 3rd person to nominate her in the past 24 hours.

Next up is Brandy from It’s Like, I’m…mmmagic. I have no idea how Brandy found my blog, but I’m so glad she did! I started reading her blog daily because that girl can write! She has some of the most thought-provoking, touching, and funny posts I’ve ever read. If I ever go to Canada, I hope to meet her so that I can say I know her IRL.

My fourth nomination goes to Tulip Mom. She has recently written several posts about people in her life that were so touching. Additionally, she has a son with Autism and her stories about their life make me think. Having worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist with children with Autism, I enjoy reading her view as a parent.

Last, but certainly not least is Auburn Gal from Auburn Gal Always. Many of her posts make me crack up, but they also make me think. She is a very clever writer who is able to be funny, but still have a message to share.

Now it’s your turn (that is, if you so choose)….

1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the “Thinking Blogger Award” with a link to the post that you wrote (here is an alternative silver version if gold doesn’t fit your blog.)

Bestow away Thinkers!!!

Thanks again, Lene!!
